    Description

    Our client, a leader in civil construction projects, is seeking an HR Generalist to join their corporate team. They believe in their employees and as a Canadian owned company that strives to build and sustain infrastructure necessary to help communities thrive.

    Location: Burnaby, BC. Fully in-office position
    Salary: 70-90K, commensurate with experience

    Responsibilities:

    • Promote a positive & supportive corporate culture & model the Company Values
    • Assist in ensuring policies are up to date & in accordance with all provincial/federal legislation
    • Conduct training on policies & HR programs
    • Employee engagement: Monthly newsletters, employee survey distribution and recognition programs
    • Recruitment & Selection including creating and posting job description, hiring recommendations, onboarding
    • Payroll & Benefits including payroll submission, HR File management, benefits administration
    • Manage the employee termination process including exit interviews
    • Advise team members & management personnel on the interpretation of personnel policies, programs, & procedures
    • Responsible for accurate & thorough employee information in personnel files & in HR software module for active & terminated employees
    • Tracks & updates calendar with employees' vacation requests/time off schedules
    • Performs other administrative tasks as required by the President.
    Safety Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Evaluate, assess & update safe work procedures & policies to ensure worker safety & compliance with all regulatory bodies & standards.
    • Prepare & conduct safety training sessions, documenting employee participation
    • Responsible for WorkSafeBC record-keeping & Workers Compensation incidents & reports
    • Maintain Health Safety & Environment (HSE) policy handbook in compliance with WorkSafe BC standards
    • Schedule third-party employee training program & manage employee certification tracking process
    Requirements:
    • Post-Secondary education in Human Resources Administration, CPHR designation an asset
    • 4+ years generalist HR experience, preferably within the construction or resource industry
    • Excellent computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office Suite - Including PowerPoint & Excel
    • Demonstrated ability to diagnose & resolve employee relation matters
    • Tactful & effective written & verbal communication skills
    • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to influence & motivate team members
    • Ability to interact with all levels within the organization & influence as required
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with high resiliency
    • Strong organizational & time management skills
    • Capable of maintaining a high level of confidentiality & professionalism in difficult situations
    • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to demonstrate agility in creating solutions to complex issues
    • Strong reporting, analytical & process improvement
    • Previous experience in a unionized work environment, an asset
