Description
The Director, Patient Care Services in the Secure Treatment Unit provides context and strategic guidance in the operations of a program striving to be the class leader in delivering exceptional quality and research informed services to those suffering severe and persisting mental illness in the provincial correctional system.
This position guides and directs the delivery of patient care services specific to the Secure Treatment Unit (STU) in collaboration with the Clinical Director, including the implementation of service standards, performance metrics, human resource management, education, research and its integration into care.
The Director will also have accountability fostering positive staff, physician, clinician, scientist, client, family and community partner engagement while ensuring accreditation and evidence-based standards for programming and collaborating towards future growth for the program.
Accountability #1:
Delivery of evidence-based patient care services
Reports to the Executive Director of the Integrated Forensic Program (IFP) and work collaboratively as a team member with other Directors of Patient Care.
Ensures clinical program and inter-ministerial (MOHLTC and MCSCS) agreements, policies, procedures are upheld as they relate to the service level agreement at the Forensic Treatment Unit and relevant legislation.
Provides leadership and direction to the STU in partnership with the Clinical DirectorEnsures research and evaluation is completed to support the evolution of practice and programming. Fosters involvement of staff in research and its translation into care.
Provides leadership, direction, community partner building and mentorship for/within IFP.
Ensures efficient, effective and empowered delivery of interdisciplinary services and access to services.
Ensures the delivery of high quality clinical services and outcomes within the STU.
Accountable for program performance and achieving quality indicators, including those established by Health Quality Ontario, Accreditation Canada and the Solicitor General.

Ensure client and family centered models of care are encouraged and expanded.

Management of the Human Resources functions.
Guides and manages the overall provision of patient care services, policies, and programs for the STU and its readiness for future service planning.

Planning, developing and administering operating and capital budgets. Ensuring that the financial, performance and other information used for decision-making is reliable and adequate. Strategic Planning in line with Corporate Goals.
Ensuring development of Program Goals & Objectives that are respectful of Corporate Goals.
Fosters inter-disciplinary research and integration of research into care. Works collaboratively with the IMHR and Universities to identify, develop and implement research projects.
Fosters co-creation of the implementation of the strategic plan and corresponding metrics.
Participating as appropriate in corporate teams, working groups or committees.
Representing the ROHCG and Program at community committees and partnerships.
Responsibility for policy/practice and procedure development and documentation related to IFP.
Works in a manner that is conducive with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal.
Ensure a work environment that is conducive to the Royal's Anti-Racism, Harassment, & Discrimination Free Workplace Policy.To be available to consult with Ministry of Health in connection with matters arising under the Service Renewal Agreement.
Broad knowledge and experience in the delivery of efficient and effective delivery of services in adherence to the program's clinical services, human resources management, budgeting, performance measuresMaster's Degree or equivalent in a Health Care related field. Minimum ten years experience in related health care field including five years in management.
Experience with Provincial networks.
Awareness and support of Clinical Informatics as a tool to develop knowledge and expertise, and integration of technology based solutions into research, and patient and family care
Knowledge of inpatient, outpatient and community mental health system and models of service.
Experience working with clients and families in program design and evaluation
Familiar with applying LEADS in a Caring Environment Framework to own and direct reports development
Demonstrated experience engaging in and supporting research and evaluation
Demonstrated knowledge of care in academic health science centers
Exceptional organizational, project management, facilitation and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage conflicting priorities/multiple demands
English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is preferred.
