    JOB SUMMARY

    Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology, the Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for implementation and maintenance of corporate hardware, software and any related infrastructure. This includes the creation of all plans for ensuring functionality, data consistency, security and usability of systems aligned with the organization's priorities and enabling employees to do their work effectively.

    Qualifications

    • Post-secondary degree or diploma in computer science, or an acceptable combination of education and relevant experience required
    • Minimum 5 years of direct work experience in an IT Infrastructure capacity required
    • Experience with Windows Server, SQL Server, SharePoint Server, virtualization stacks, Microsoft AD administration, Cisco CatOS/ASA (Layers 2&3), enterprise storage, Oracle/Redhat Linux, Oracle Middleware
    • Experience with installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and configuring: Cisco & other Tier 1 networking devices, VOIP PBX Systems, virtualization stacks, F5 BIG-IP, Cloud deployments.

    Technical – Infrastructure Support

    • Managing and maintaining all client desktops, laptops and servers in Windows and Windows Server environments (x86, x64) throughout the organization
    • Responsible for providing prompt, efficient and professional service and support to staff members as required
    • Managing and maintaining Windows and Linux servers and their installed apps with a variety of OS versions deployed
    • Understanding of virtualization concepts and experience with hypervisor management (Hyper-V, vSphere, Oracle VM)
    • Experience with network management and fundamental network concepts such as layer 2 switching, layer 3 routing, layer 4 traffic management / firewall
    • Installs, maintains and configures data related to security devices, systems and servers
    • Maintains control records and performs backups of critical systems information
    • Manages network, storage and compute capacity planning
    • Tests and installs issued patches in conjunction with software providers and vendors or other third parties
    • Performs hardware and software upgrades
    • Responsible for security and user management (password management, email access, network access)
    • Ensures that the security system is adequate for company use
    • Maintains confidential data on a secure part of the server to prevent unauthorized access to information
    • Troubleshoots errors and fixes system issues via periodic testing, IT help tickets, and other methods
    • Stays up to date on all changes in the information technology industry and make suggestions to management accordingly
    • Evaluates performance of the organizations computer systems, and makes appropriate changes to the infrastructure
    • Oversees security of the data center
    • Responsible for disaster data recovery
    • Produces regular reports for the IT manager (status, escalations, etc.) on the progress of projects
    • Develops, administers, and maintains policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of all systems
    • Maintains current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources
    • Planning, project and budget management
    • Managing and maintaining third party software and licences
    • Identifies business requirements and provides input into budgetary needs
    • Plans, develops and manages IT project management of infrastructure initiatives
    • Hardware procurement and vendor management
    • Files and archives all IT related documents related to requisitions, software licenses, etc.
    • Maintains files of warranties for equipment and contacts suppliers as needed for equipment issues
    • Negotiates with third party vendors for IT needs, as necessary
    • Researches and suggests appropriate pricing for new and/or refurbished technical equipment
    • Creates and monitors the IT budget and informs management when technical requirements surpass budgetary limits
    • Price costs for new and/or upgraded machines and provide information to management regarding the feasibility of buying new equipment
