    The City of New Westminster is looking for an outstanding candidate to join its Information Technology department in the role of System Administrator.

    This is a key role in the City's journey to Microsoft 365 and hybrid cloud systems, and will also maintain and further develop the City's virtualization, server and storage environments.

    engaging in projects; in addition to maintaining day-to-day operations of the Microsoft, cloud and systems infrastructure.
    Maintain high levels of availability, currency, and service delivery of the server, storage, Microsoft and cloud infrastructure
    Provide advice and expertise in transition to Microsoft 365 and cloud environments
    In collaboration with the Senior Network Administrator, ensure cyber security and privileged account management practices are implemented and followed
    Understand stakeholder needs and develop system solutions and refinements that efficiently deliver services on project initiatives
    Provides tier 3 systems support to the user community
    Oversees and monitors the City's server, storage, Microsoft and cloud environment
    Documents and maintains system diagrams and information for effective planning
    Assesses and analyses technology project requirements to recommend and develop solutions
    Manages systems infrastructure projects
    Collaborates with IT operations staff, including the Helpdesk team, Applications team and Senior Network Administrator
    Able to work at non-standard hours to perform systems/network maintenance and to respond to emergency support as required
    Monitor and maintain regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
    Collaborate on large projects and build out related system components
    Configure and deploy infrastructure-related software and utilities
    Provide recommendations on and implement infrastructure improvements to create administrative and technical network efficiencies
    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or 2-year Diploma of Technology in Computer Science) supplemented by a Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert certifications or equivalent
    ~VMware/vSphere, Storage Area Networks
    ~ Network switching/routing, IP telephony, firewalls (Palo Alto)
    ~ Cyber Security fundamentals, next-gen EDR/MDR platforms, email security suites
    ~ Remote access platforms (F5 Big-IP, RDS)
    ~ Work-life balance - 35 hour work week including a hybrid of remote and in-office days, vacation, and an optional compressed day off program
