- A college diploma in industrial engineering technology, manufacturing technology, or a related discipline, Welding inspection, level 1 or 2 is recommended.
- Ensure all assigned duties are completed on schedule
- Inspect welds for Quality/ Defects
- Inspect weld processes to ensure WI/ Drawings are being followed
- Ensure Weld process monitoring sheets are being verified to weld equipment parameters
- Perform and make minor adjustments according to PM schedules on welding fixtures in the weld cells
- Perform First piece and in-process inspections
- Intermediate drawing interpretations and SPC principles.
- Understand and apply G D & T concepts.
- Perform Non-destructive testing and evaluation.
- Verify accuracy with NDT equipment.
- Issue Nonconforming Material Tags.
- Perform other duties/projects as assigned.
- Ensure resolution and escalation to Welders and Weld supervisors are done in a timely manner
- Two to five years of related welding experience (minimum GMAW flat ticket.)
- CWB Level 1 welding inspector certification or prior welding experience
- Intermediate knowledge of SPC/ GDT and weld callouts. Must be able to read blueprints and interpret engineering drawings in addition to GDT. Ability to read and understand company procedure manuals. Read the standards guide/manual to avoid production errors.
- Exposure in conducting manufacturing audits. Exposure to machining and welding practices, experience with Metrology, SPC, knowledge of measuring techniques, gauging and inspection equipment. Must be able to use measuring equipment effectively, micrometers, Vernier's, height and bore gauges. May measure or weigh products to assess conformity to quality standards.
- Ability to resolve conflicts and determine reasons for errors in products. Use technical skills and knowledge to identify root cause of problem. Monitor operations to gather information in determining potential reasons for wastage. Make waste-reducing recommendations to quality manager.
- Interact with supervisor to co-ordinate work and exchange information during production and quality meetings. Interact with the production supervisor/manager to discuss product quality. Interact with operators to monitor progress and correct work that does not meet quality standards.
- Ability to work independently, coordinating work with work of others (i.e. welders, operators, supervisors) as needed. Meet with production manager, quality manager and supervisors every day to discuss quality issues and resolve any related problems.
- Maintain continuous learning in order to keep up with new developments in field.
