    Theories and Practices of Teaching (VIC151H1S)

    Victoria College Program:
    Vic One

    VIC151H1S Theories and Practices of Teaching: Professional Practice - This course introduces the theories and practices of teaching through analysis of three main themes: planning and implementing inclusive instruction, establishing a classroom context to support diverse learners, and analyzing professional concerns for teachers.

    Students will be involved in a volunteer placement in a school or community-based setting.

    Field experience is central to the course with students expected to apply course ideas in their volunteer work and reflect on their experiences in seminars.


    Course Modality :
    In-person, Victoria College campus


    Teaching Assistant:
    PhD in Education or a closely related field
    Relevant university-level teaching experience and a record of excellence in undergraduate teaching, as demonstrated by previous experience and evaluations
    The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge of pedagogical theories and practices in education, along with a relevant and adaptable experiential base with which to put the course materials into context
    Demonstrated qualifications in and commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility in education
    Preference will be given to candidates with elementary or secondary school teaching experience
    teaching evaluations, proposed course outline
    This position is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902, Unit 2 Collective Agreement.
