- Support with the preparation and distribution of accurate and timely financial statements monthly in accordance with Firm standards
- Analyze financial results, identifying areas of concern and/or opportunities for improvement
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, complete with supporting documentation
- Respond to statement and general ledger queries from the Executive group, Partners, Finance and regional offices
- Review income statement and prepare variance analyses
- Prepare, post and ensure the accuracy of journal entries
- Provide backup for calculation and posting of cost allocations
- Prepare commercial, professional liability and other types of insurance allocations.
- Support on Concur expense reimbursement system and processes
- Become an expert on and oversee: Fixed asset subledger and reconciliations to general ledgerCollaboration with Real Estate team for updates on status of assets under construction for capitalisation and provide accounting support and guidance as neededCollaboration with various teams across the Firm on fixed asset disposal and accounting for sameEnforcing and maintaining Fixed Asset guidelines
- Prepare schedules for income tax filings (T2's and T5013's) and respond to queries from Firm Tax team
- Maintain good standing relationships with Partners and office administration
- Complete other ad hoc duties and projects as required
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes including systems improvements
- Completion of a professional accounting designation
- Five (5) years of related accounting experience especially in preparation of financial statements, variance analyses and analysis of financial data and reconciliations
- Experience with Fixed Asset management & Capital Cost Allowance schedules
- Excellent communication skills (written and spoken)
- Ability to provide coaching to the team
- Strong sense of ownership and curiosity to learn new skills
- Good analytical ability, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work self-sufficiently, with minimum supervision
- Strong computer literacy including intermediate-advanced level Excel (pivot tables, vlookups is a must; Macros, programming and VBA is an asset) and effective working skills of Microsoft Word
- Any of the following would be considered an asset: Experience with enterprise data warehouse, power appsKnowledge of Unit 4 ERP (formerly Agresso) & ConcurKnowledge of Indirect Tax rulesExperience working in a Professional Services environment
