    Your opportunity:

    Reporting to the Assistant to the Dean, Student Life and Leadership, the Coordinator, Student Groups and Leadership Opportunities (CSGLO) is responsible for supporting a variety of portfolios including student government and student group support, leadership development, mentorship, career education, and community engagement. The CSGLO is broadly responsible for supporting the best possible student experience, with particular attention to the needs of our student groups and commuter students.

    The CSGLO is a scholar-practitioner whose work is rooted in the best practice within student affairs. They are responsible fordeveloping and implementing educational programs and initiatives, including the identification of learning outcomes, pedagogical techniques, and evaluation methods. The incumbent is responsible for working with the ADSLL to develop a student life communications strategy and supporting the development of digital and print materials, drafting content, and managing social media.

    The incumbent works closely with the New College Student Council, levy groups, course unions, and clubs to ensure they are well-supported and equipped to be successful. They are responsible for advising student leaders and providing training on a variety of topics including event planning, risk assessment, financial management, equity, diversity, and inclusion, teamwork, and conflict management.

    The CSGLO works closely with the ADSLL to inform key priorities and objectives. They are responsible for developing assessment tools, conducting detailed analyses, preparing reports, and communicating information to internal and external stakeholders.

    Although most work is conducted during regular business hours, evening and weekend work is regularly required.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Developing student assessment plans to support student learning outcomes and competencies
    • Conducting a detailed analysis of student feedback and learning outcomes to inform program planning activities
    • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
    • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
    • Developing strategies that maximize outreach to students
    • Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
    • Training and coaching student life staff and student leaders
    • Resolving minor interpersonal disputes between students and/or student staff

    Essential Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalentexperience. Study in student development, leadership development, community development, cross-cultural communications, or adult education preferred.
    • Minimum four (4) years of recent and related experience providing administrative and advising support to students, student leaders and student organizations in a post-secondary education institution.
    • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and assessing educational programs and initiatives designed to support student success in higher education.
    • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing mentorship programming, and programming geared to commuter students.
    • Demonstrated experience with supporting students in distress and knowledge of risk management procedures.
    • Experience with evaluation and research tools, and demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize data.
    • Experience in facilitating collaborative partnerships with a variety of university stakeholders including students, student leaders,staff, faculty, and alumni.
    • Experience advising student societies, levy groups, course unions, and/or clubs.
    • Experience working with diverse communities and across diverse contexts.
    • Experience supporting casual staff, work-study students and volunteers in a unionized environment; demonstrated experience taking a leadership and coaching role within teams.
    • Demonstrated experience developing and executing communications strategies for events and programming; experience creating promotional content for digital, print, and social media.
    • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
    • Demonstrated skills and ability to provide effective guidance and advice to students, student leaders and organizations in a responsive, empathetic, thoughtful, and discreet manner.
    • Demonstrated understanding of a student-centred approach with sensitivity to principles of equity and inclusivity.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict management skills.
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
    • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, including the ability to make quick, sound judgments under pressure.
    • Excellent oral and written communication, and public speaking skills.
    • Ability to work some evenings and weekends
