    Airshed and Watershed Stewardship Branch
    The Airshed and Watershed Stewardship Branch (AWSB) is responsible for monitoring, evaluating and reporting on key air, water, land and biodiversity indicators. AWSB has a legislated requirement to make data, scientific evaluation and assessments available to the public in a timely manner. AWSB produces a robust line of science products addressing the needs of a variety of end users (government, industry, academia, Indigenous communities, and the general public). The line of science products range from legislated products such as the State of the Environment Reports to real-time data and peer reviewed scientific papers.

    Role Responsibilities

    AWSB is searching for a Water Monitoring Technologist (Groundwater), to join their monitoring team to carry out ambient monitoring activities and programs.

    The Water Monitoring Technologist will conduct monitoring activities within divisional and departmental plans with a mandate to collect accurate data related to the ambient Groundwater sampling programs. This will include using various equipment and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) associated with Groundwater quality and quantity.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Assisting with all areas of ambient data gathering.

    • Carrying out Groundwater sampling programs (water quality) and level measurements (quantity) using SOPs.

    • Undertaking Project-Level planning and resources tracking.

    • Validating, processing and entering data.

    • Responding to Environmental spill situations and environmental emergencies on Alberta waters.
