Opportunity:
MacEwan University is seeking a Building Supervisor for a full-time continuing opportunity with the Custodial department.
The Building Supervisor is responsible for supervising the day-to-day building operations including custodial services and general maintenance services at MacEwan University.
This position is responsible for the supervision of weekend Operations staff as well as any contractors performing work on weekends, and ensuring all safe work practices are followed.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising and training custodial staff in the performance of cleaning duties such as sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors, cleaning and disinfecting washrooms and interior surfaces such as sinks, mirrors, countertops and doorknobs, and dusting furniture.
- Establishing work assignments and priorities to ensure that all cleaning requirements are met.
- Coordinating and scheduling staffing requirements, reporting to the Manager if any areas are understaffed.
- Ensuring work performed by cleaning contractors is done in a safe manner, in accordance with the contract, all University policies, related legislation and OHS standards.
- Performing monthly cleaning quality audits of all MacEwan University owned buildings.
- Monitoring the quality of contracted cleaning services, ensuring they meet the standards of the University.
- Maintaining and managing Facilities QMS ISO 9001:2008/2015 requirements within the custodial department.
- Submitting maintenance work requests when building deficiencies are identified.
- Reporting any property damage or vandalism to Security Services.
SKILLS:
You will have:
- The ability to work with the following systems:
- FIMS
- Outlook
- Peoplesoft
- Protracker
- Policy & Procedure Management
- Excell
- Knowledge of OHS regulations and codes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of a High School Diploma.
- ISO 9001:2008/15 training, Quality Management Systems training, Supervisory/leadership training, WHIMIS, Fall Arrest, Ladder Safety, Lift training, PPE training, and safety audits/inspections training would be considered an asset.
- A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in custodial cleaning and quality audits.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be available for evenings and/or weekend shifts.
