    The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences invitesapplications, from qualified individuals, for an Academic Associate [limitedterm with the possibility of renewal] position in the field of SoftwareEngineering. This position reports to the Dean of Engineering and AppliedSciences. This position is subject to budgetary approval, and would start on July1, 2024, or as soon as it is filled.

    The candidate should possess a in SoftwareEngineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science or any otherrelated field, a strong academic background, and an established record ofexcellence in innovative and scholarly research leading to peer-reviewedpublications. The candidate must be registered or eligible for and committed toregistration as a Professional Engineer (PEng) in the Province of Ontario.Related industrial experience or academic leadership experience would beconsidered an asset. The candidate must also demonstrate strong potentialfor outstanding teaching contributions. In addition, candidates shouldpossess excellent English language skills demonstrating an ability to ensurestrong, two-way communications on an ongoing basis that contribute tocollaborative/collegial relationships with faculty, staff, students, and thecommunity at large.

    The Department of Electrical, Software and ComputerEngineering (ECSE) offers Honours undergraduate degrees in ElectricalEngineering and Software Engineering with IoT specialization. The Departmentalso offers the corresponding Engineering and Management degrees for all theprograms. In addition, the Department offers Master's (MASc and MEng) and PhDprograms in Electrical and Software Engineering (with various specializations),and a graduate program (MEng) in Engineering Management. The Department is committedto excellence and innovation in interdisciplinary teaching and research, whichis relevant to the needs of society and the local community. The Departmentpromotes these ideals by emphasizing the integration of knowledge andtechnology to provide learning and research opportunities for students.

    This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
