    InBC Investment Corp.

    (InBC) is a strategic investment fund created by the Government of British Columbia with $500 million to invest in growing companies and venture funds to benefit the people of British Columbia.

    We are building a collaborative team of fast-paced, high-performing individuals who are passionate about InBC's triple bottom line mandate and ready to do what it takes to make it a reality, and make a difference in B.Bridging government, entrepreneurship and venture capital, this role provides a unique opportunity for someone who has a passion for making a difference in BC and has the skills to position InBC as a strategic and respected organization while helping to identify investment opportunities aligned with its investment mandate.

    The Strategic Engagement Manager reports to the CEO and will own a partnership and outreach strategy, amplifying the mandate of InBC to generate and sustain quality connections to impact-aligned funds, ventures and ecosystem partners, and ultimately work to identify quality and diverse investment opportunities.

    We are looking for someone who has a strong knowledge of, and a network in, the entrepreneurial and investment ecosystem in B.The ideal candidate will work closely with the CEO, investment team and marketing, to solve expected and unexpected challenges, and lead with values such as curiosity, inclusion, and empathy, to support entrepreneurs and B.Support the positioning of InBC in the marketplace as a strong partner and respected investor through the identification, development and management of strategic partnerships to drive strong deal flow.

    Manage and track a network of partners across the provincial ecosystem including government agencies such as BDC, PacifiCan and Innovate BC, private sector funding partners and entrepreneurial support organizations (including impact-focused Angel investors, venture funds, accelerators and incubators) to support the growth and success of more B.Support Investment team with market intelligence and relationships to generate leads and reach high potential companies and funds, and to identify and fill potential gaps to ensure a diverse funnel of opportunities, including proactively engaging with organization's supporting InBCs investment objectives.

    Ecosystem and Market Outreach

    Actively identify and manage outreach opportunities, including events and partnerships, through which to communicate and showcase the mandate of InBC, and enhance InBC's position within the innovation and impact investing ecosystem, with a proactive focus on underrepresented communities to drive quality deal flow.

    Work closely with the Marketing Communications Specialist to ensure strong and effective communication of objectives and to continually raise awareness of InBC, our team and our work.

    Provide support for existing partnerships and participate as InBC's representative on committees and working groups.
    Support event activation to ensure linkage to strategic objectives including regional opportunities, as required.
    Track, manage and report (including a summary of insights) on all interactions through utilization of a CRM system.

    Support the CEO through a collaborative process to develop presentation materials needed for stakeholder management to reflect relevant and meaningful content for a variety of audiences.

    Conduct ongoing review of initiatives at the federal and provincial level aligned with InBC's objectives, working in collaboration with the Operations Coordinator, to share back with the full team for identification of resources for companies we interact with or to identify initiatives that can leverage InBC's impact.

    Support the CEO to maintain strong government relations at the federal, provincial and municipal level.
    General Activities / CEO Support
    Analyze prevailing political, social, economic and environmental trends to inform engagement strategies and anticipate potential challenges or opportunities.
    Support the generation of materials for Board and Committee meetings, as well as operational reports.
    Support and lead additional strategic projects, as needed.
    Undergraduate degree in any discipline.

    • 3-5 years of related work experience within the innovation and/or investment ecosystem.
    • May have worked in an early-stage startup company, incubator, accelerator, or within government.
    • Experience working with Indigenous organizations and/or communities is considered an asset.
    • Project Management skills and methodologies are considered an asset.
    • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a succinct and compelling way to a variety of audiences including entrepreneurs, government counterparts, external partners and InBC's Board of Directors.
