    Humber River Health (HRH) is a prominent 1.8 million square foot, fully-digital acute care facility in Canada, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and catering to a wide range of medical needs.

    HRH operates 656 acute inpatient beds at the Wilson site, 34 beds at Church Campus and 32 beds at Finch Campus, with over 4000 staff, approximately 800 physicians and over 1,000 volunteers.

    HRH also includes the Reactivation Care Centres (RCCs) at the Finch and Church Campuses which represent a unique partnership among multiple hospitals in the GTA with a focus on delivery of specialised care with the focus on reactivation to patients who have been designated as Alternative Level of Care.


    As Canada's first digital hospital and home of the first digital Command Centre, our commitment to innovation, research, and academic excellence remains at the core of our organization.

    The HRH Research Institute drives the hospital's pioneering position in digital healthcare innovation as Canada's first digital hospital. Our Command Centre acts as a "mission control" to manage patient flow and drive the quality of care.

    We prioritize patient safety and high reliability care through the use of closed-loop automation, robotics, predictive analytics and artificial intelligence.

    We have developed advanced patient flow and care monitoring tools supported by the Command Centre, enabling us to use real-time data feeds from across the Hospital to improve patient flow, patient safety and outcomes.

    As an associate member in the Toronto Academic Health Sciences Network (TAHSN), HRH provides many academic opportunities to all professions.

    We have established Schulich Family Medicine Teaching Unit (FMTU) in partnership with the University of Toronto, further strengthening our commitment to academic excellence.

    The Schulich Family FMTU provides opportunities for residents to learn with academic and community-based family physicians. Residents also have access to interdisciplinary health professionals to support collaborative learning and comprehensive care experience.


    At Humber River Health we continue to advance the important role we play as we advocate for healthcare initiatives in the diverse community we serve.

    The RCC Church Campus brings five hospitals under one roof to provide specialized care for patients who no longer require acute care, and are waiting in hospital for transfer to an appropriate alternate discharge destination, such as convalescent, slow stream rehabilitation, or long-term care.

    Each of the hospitals, as an extension to its main hospital site, staffs and operates its own unit(s). Under the Post Acute and RCC Program, Humber River Health operates one 34-bed patient care unit.

    This program demonstrates our focus and commitment to comprehensive care of the older adult and provides an exciting opportunity for physicians interested in working with this patient population.


    As a member of the Department of Medicine or Department of Family and Community Medicine, you will help provide comprehensive medical care from admission to discharge to patients at the RCC in the capacity of the Most Responsible Provider (MRP).

    The position works in collaboration with Nurse Practitioners, nursing and members of the inter-professional health care team, including enhanced Allied Health resources to deliver comprehensive care and treatment plans, assessment and management of acute medical and aging conditions, preventing or delaying complications, and restoration of optimal functional ability through an enhanced activation program.

    HRH has an expectation that all physicians will apply for an academic appointment in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto.

    The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in team-based care of older adults and possess strong interpersonal skills.

    Additional training in Care of the Elderly is preferred.
