    Who are we looking for?

    GHD's Waste Management Group is seeking a Senior Solid Waste Engineer ready to join one of our fastest-growing Canadian Operations. The candidate would join our North American solid waste group of 120 professionals. This position is specifically focused on expanding and leading traditional solid waste work as well as solid waste planning. This position will also work closely with GHD's solid waste planning group as part of an integrated vision-through-implementation team that closely relates solid waste planning to engineering.

    Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Establishing long-lasting client relationships with municipal and industrial clients, working together with the Regional Business Development manager to help lead proposals for new projects together with the team
  • Project manage solid waste projects on time and on budget for municipal and industrial clients requiring permitting, operations support, solid waste planning and environmental studies
  • Interface with GHD's solid waste planning team to undertake the technical component of master plans
  • Manage the preparation of technical reports and complete peer reviews of designs completed by others in the Solid Waste group
  • Coordinate technical resources and personnel including drafters, 3D designers, GIS and database technicians, chemists, geotechnical engineers, hydrologists, hydrogeologists, biologists, and planners to complete solid waste facility designs and plans
  • Effectively communicate and connect with existing and prospective clients
  • Assist in yearly planning for the Western Canada Solid Waste Business Group
  • Senior review of reports and studies
  • Complete regulatory conformance reviews
  • Project management of studies and designs to support permitting applications
  • Undertake liaison activities with regulators
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to intermediate and junior technical staff across our offices in Western Canada
  • Provide internal leadership in the growth and direction of the North American Solid Waste Team

    • What you bring to the team:

  • Civil or environmental engineer with a . in BC and AB, or be eligible
  • 10-20 years of experience in the solid waste industry
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in a consulting role
  • Valid class 5 drivers license with driving record in good standing
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and ability to work in a highly-skilled and diversified project team
  • Experience in organic waste processing and waste technologies is considered an asset
  • Experience in solid waste master planning is considered an asset
