CANADA DAY 2021
Tomorrow is the day when all Canadians celebrate the fact that we live in one
of the best countries going. But this Canada Day is tainted by some of the
ugliness in our past. You all know what I'm talking about so | won't go on and
on. But what | will say is that | don't believe we are quite the same country as
we were back when these events took place. | think we have grown more
understanding and less bigoted. It's a heavy burden shouldering responsibility
for things that happened in the past. Things most of us knew nothing about at
the time. All we can do is share the sorrow that native Canadians feel, and
promise to do whatever we can to keep anything like this from happening
again. Hopefully, thinking about this on Canada will help us strengthen our
resolve to keep working to keep this country strong and free. Not perfect. But
at least trying damn hard.

'Free' as in puppy, or 'free' as in beer?

Like many homes in Canada, we opened our door at various times to a furry, four legged creature.  While we are currently in a dog-less state of affairs right now, dogs were an endless source of inspiration for me in blog writing. · This is Isabel.  She was our warm blooded Hoover ...

Reflections on Fort MacMurray

As you may or may not know, during the past week an out of control forest fire destroyed huge hunks of the Northern Alberta community of Fort MacMurray. More than 90,000 people have been displaced and have lost pretty much everything in this tragedy. · But the outpouring of suppo ...
