THE ROAD BACK, YEAR 3
Today is the beginning of the next phase on the road back. This is the phase where I absolutely minimize the use of my chair for doing things and use my walker instead. Today, I made my coffee and bagel all on my feet with a little help from my walker. The only thing I needed my chair for was transporting the coffee. Because while I may be industrious, I am not stupid. (If you saw my coffee cup you'd understand.) This is going to be rough sledding for a while because while I can walk for quite a distance now, standing around is really hard on the old hips. But minimizing chair time is the operative phrase here.
The last two years of my life have been a game of inches, and the key thing I have learned from that is to respect the game. You can't rush things without increasing your chances of fucking up and breaking something important.
Guess that's kind of an allegory for life.
