THE FATAL FLAWS OF THE RIGHT TO LIFE MOVEMENT Scientifically speaking, a fetus for the entire 9 months of a pregnancy, is an entity that is completely dependent upon its host for survival. In this way, it's no different than a tumor growing inside a body. The body nourishes the fetus and is the only source of energy it has. So if a fetus endangers the host body in any way, the humane thing to do is to abort it in order to save the host which, unlike the fetus, is an actual human being. If this fetus is a product of rape or incest, the host body has no idea what kind of human being that fetus could turn into or what could be wrong with it, which of course, will enslave the host for decades. It seems to me that the right to life point of view is one which is almost totally emotional, utterly ignorant of science and murky as a Florida swamp. The whole idea of forcing women to give birth when that child is a product of rape or incest, or if that pregnancy can cause serious damage or event death to the host, are acts of uspeakable cruelty visited upon women by men who are manipulating the law for their own selfish ends, with no thought given to women, who are the real victims here. Only in a completely totalitarian society would laws exist that that remove a woman's control over her own body. | always believed that the United States of America, this self-proclaimed bastion of democracy and freedom, would never fall prey to this kind of regressive behaviour. | guess | was wrong. x ne
