Couch Potato Chronicles

HALO
(1 Spud on Prime)

This series, based on the uber violent video games, is a big
budget deal that demonstrated in spades just how much money
the movie industry is willing to spend on this sort of crap.

I'd tell you what the story line was but there really wasn’t
one. There are only themes, ultra violence, war, control, power,
mayhem and sadistic murder.

It takes place sometime in the future when planets are being
mined for their minerals, and different races are fighting over
control of them.

There's nothing new going on here. Dune did it all with a lot
more class and style than this.

The attempts to weave a story into it, at least as far as I could
see, was kinda lame. But kids everywhere will love it because a
lot of things are hunted down, blown up sliced in two etc etc.

This series was obviously not aimed at me, since I found it
kind of repulsive. But I worry about the people that it was aimed
at, and the state of mind this level of violence would put them in.

And I know all the old arguments about stuff like this. But
honestly, do we really need to entertain ourselves with this
much mindless killing?
