THE OLD PINBALL MACHINE

The old pinball machine
Would leave you to dream
To tie up the loose ends
Of all of your schemes
To help find a way out
Of the hole you were in
The old pinball machine
And a mickey of gin

The old pinball machine
Was a nickel a throw
It could lift up your spirits
Whenever they were low
For one fifth of a quarter
You could let yourself go
Even freak out a bit
On the crazy light show

The old pinball machine
Was important to me
An integral morsel
Of my own history
Wasn’t much of a challenge
But it was something to see
When the pool room was closed
You could play it for free
And play it | did
With my buddy, Jim D
