For Those Who Are Still Confused About beBee Ambassadors

For Those Who Are Still Confused About beBee Ambassadors

Some Simple Truths About
beBee Ambassadors

We do not operate as a traditional cohesive unit.
Each ambassador has their own approach
as defined by their skill sets and their ideas.
And this is encouraged by beBee's management

We are not Influencers in the sense that LinkedIn
defines Influencers. Although we may have some
influence because most of us write posts regularly.

We are not paid for the work we do.
Right now you can file it under sweat equity. Any
benefits that accrue are yet to be determined.

We are a team, in that each ambassador supports
the others to the best of their ability & available time.

Our main objective is to make people
on other social media sites aware of beBee
and encourage them, mainly through our own
personal experience, to add participation on beBee
to their other social media activities.

Being a brand Ambassador doesn't make us elite,
privilaged or otherwise special in any way.
This is because beBee was intentionally designed
without a class structure.

It's has management. It's has staff.

It has volunteer ambassadors. And and it has users.
But there is no hierarchy
These are just descriptors, not a ranking.

www.bebee.comMy dear fellow Bees:

I was appointed a beBee brand ambassador a few months ago. I'm not exactly sure how this came about. Mostly likely because I had, since coming to beBee, become very interested in attracting people to the site.
I behave this way because I am a marketer and an advertising animal. It's in my DNA. So I started coming up with ideas that I could use to get some attention for beBee, mainly on LinkedIn, Twitter and Google+.
I focused on LinkedIn primarily because I knew a lot of people there who were in the process of having their followings decimated by LinkedIn's behavior towards them, just like they did to me.
https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/wall-jim-murray?trk=mp-reader-card
But I also undertook these activities because I was genuinely excited by the prospect of being part of the first wave on a relatively new social/business media site, and really wanted to share that with the peeps I knew over in the Lumpy Kingdom.
So my assumption is that this was considered to be a good service, and so I was made a brand ambassador.
I am currently one of about twenty brand ambassadors, who are all doing the same sort of thing as I do in their own ways.
However, since the program started, there has been a bit of confusion as to just what being an beBee ambassador means. This confusion stems, for the most part, from the frame of reference that most people who come here have bought with them from LinkedIn.
And it's not a very pleasant one at that.
They see beBee ambassadors as something akin to LinkedIn 'Influencers', who were, in fact, an elite class on LinkedIn. They were heavily promoted on LinkedIn Pulse, although they mostly wrote workplace oriented crap. But they furthered the LinkedIn agenda, which never really had anything to do with promoting independent writers, although LI tried to bullshit everyone into believing that wasn't the case.
But I digress.
What you see below are some simple truths, to the best of my knowledge, about beBee ambassadors. My hope is that this clarifies things to some extent and gets you thinking in beBee terms as opposed to LI terms.
Sincerely, Jim

I don't know if my post about being on the in crowd started the ruckus (https://www.bebee.com/producer/@kevin-pashuk/calling-all-misfits-non-conformists-and-outliers-it-s-hip-to-bee-square) but for those who read the post, I was certainly talking about the potential to ruin the concept of Ambassadors if we carried our baggage over from the other platforms. Perhaps it's a good time to drag out a post I wrote near the end of June? I've think we've come full circle in our discussions. In it, I describe the behaviour expected of every bee. https://www.bebee.com/producer/@kevin-pashuk/so-you-want-to-be-a-bebee-ambassador

Kudos Jim Murray and I call that "The Fractal Revolution in Society, Social Media (beBee) First" "Our future "Brave New World", despite some dogmatic principles could be a lot of different place, much better too and full of some glittering prizes for all of us. Even perhaps only on this micro scale where we have some influence, if not globally. We are on the same mission and fortunately we are not alone. The Fractal Revolution in Society, beBee affinity network is the first social media." - from "The Fractal Revolution in Society, Social Media First", LI long-form post (September 4, 2016): https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/fractal-revolution-society-social-media-first-milos-djukic?trk=prof-post

Masterfully articulated, Jim Murray, with many potent points. I not only would reiterate everything you wrote, but just add the following to buttress it: Every single bee is an "influencer" in their own right, from sharing buzz, sweet honey, and Live Buzz, and more. beBee is a level playing field which thrives on an active and enthusiastic user base with very high engagement because of an awesome user experience. On the flipside, all the decade-old competitor social media monoliths appear to not give a hoot about the user experience, customer service, enhancing engagement, etc. In short, this positions beBee as a rare oasis in a dry and barren desert for indepedent writers/bloggers and all users. Moreover, so much innovative progress has been made in under 2-years that I can only imagine the positive future that lies ahead. Thanks for all YOU and every bee does to spread the buzz about this amazing social platform, which has so much promise and future potential. Buzz on! cc: Javier beBee
