    Description

    Purpose:

    Our goal is to calculate the required quantities of reinforcing bars, mesh, accessories, and related products for projects we aim to bid on, making sure our contractor clients receive prompt proposals.

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Align actions with our company's vision and values.
    • Estimate quantities of reinforcing bars, mesh, accessories, and related products needed for project bids, collaborating with the branch manager for quotes.
    • Work closely with management, detailing department, suppliers, and other relevant parties to collect information for estimates.
    • Maintain professional communication with customers and branch colleagues throughout the estimating and bidding process.
    • Keep a bid calendar to track updates and addenda, ensuring accurate estimates and keeping branch management informed about bid schedules and upcoming work.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Certification in CAD design/drafting from an accredited school or college, or currently enrolled in such a program.
    • Minimum of six (6) months experience with AutoCAD and Windows-based software.
    • Preference for construction and concrete-related experience.
    • Basic understanding of construction or civil technology is a plus.
    • Valid NL Class 5 Driver's License required.
    • Ability to interpret architectural/engineering blueprints.
    • Team player with problem-solving skills.
    • Detail-oriented and organized.
    • Effective time management and prioritization abilities.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Three years of experience as a reinforcing bar or structural steel detailer or similar construction/field estimating background.
    • Two-year degree in drafting or construction-related field (preferred).
    • Ability to analyze bid plans for project assessment in terms of schedule, scope, and strategy.
    • Familiarity with concrete structures, CRSI/ACI standards.
    • Deep understanding of the construction industry.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong analytical and problems-solving abilities.
    • Capability to meet deadlines and manage changing priorities.
    • Both independent work and teamwork capabilities.
