- Identifies and develops park specific VE and VS Program directions
- Provides program direction to VS and VE staff
- Participates in the Provincial Visitor Engagement Coordinating Committee, VS and VE Training and Recruitment Committees and Visitor Engagement Formal Education Committee to ensure provincial collaboration
- Leads the development, review and updates of the PMA Visitor Experience Plan and support District and Regional staff in development and review of various Park Management Plans
- Assists with long term (5-10 years) and medium term (2-5 years) strategic planning for park and/or District to develop relevant and innovative VS and VE programs that are responsive to changes in corporate direction and client needs and demands
- Assists with annual and medium-term operational planning for Area VS & VE program services, by establishing program goals and objectives, performance targets, measures and milestones
- Quality services are developed to effectively and efficiently communicate Alberta Parks information and specific park and organizational-level messages
- Interpretive, formal educational and outreach programming services are delivered on a year-round basis
- Information services are delivered on a year-round basis
- Special events and event support are delivered within the Park and Districts on a year round basis
- Leads the development of an Area Communication and Publication plan and oversees the implementation and evaluation of this plan
- Leads the development of an Area Promotions Plan, and oversees implementation and evaluation of this plan
- Cultivates professional networks and nurtures partnerships with individuals and organizations involved in Alberta Tourism including other GoA ministries, local government, businesses, tourism associations and Travel Alberta
- Leads the development of District information disseminating services relating to the VS and VE Programs by ensuring information posted on park specific or agency websites is current and accurate
- Collaborates with the Area Manager to ensure signs are engaging, effective, accurately reflect park information and key messaging, meet Alberta Parks sign standards, stay well maintained and refreshed, and updated or replaced in a strategic way
- Acts as the Area contact for media inquiries and coordinates responses in consultation with the Area Manager and Ministry Communications Coordinators
- Accountable for the distribution of park specific, non-personal information and print media (tear sheets, brochures, signs, and exhibits) to park facilities
- Assists to develop, maintain and update the Area's digital photo library for promotional purposes
- Accountable for the recruitment, orientation and training, supervision and evaluations for all AB government employees in program area
- Performs performance management tasks as described by Human Resources policy and direction, including completion of staff performance plans and developing work plans for staff under their supervision
- Ensures that all GoA, contracted, special program and volunteer staff clearly understand their responsibilities and are trained to successfully complete their responsibilities
- Identifies training needs and provides or facilitates required training
- Facilitates opportunities for staff to attend formal training programs
- Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of current staffing levels and identifies district VE/VS staffing needs and applies for employment, practicum and internship programs to compliment GoA funded positions
- Leads and assists with formal park, district, regional and division training workshops by participating in workshop planning teams and/or developing and presenting sessions as required
