    • The Opportunity

    The Emissions Management and Compliance Unit within the Climate Resilience Branch is seeking an experienced leader dedicated to service excellence and collaboration as Manager, Approvals and Analysis . The unit provides regulatory oversight for the Provincial Output Based Performance Standards (OBPS) Program. The OBPS Program is designed to incent growth, operational efficiencies and technology innovation to reduce greenhouse gas emission intensities while protecting industrial economic competitiveness. Reporting to the Director of Emission Management and Compliance as a member of the unit's management team, this position is responsible for:

  • Managing, leading and mentoring a diverse and high-performing team of engineers.
  • Providing leadership and management of analytical, scientific and technical calculations of greenhouse gas emission intensities.
  • Managing approvals and audits for OBPS registration, baseline emission intensities, emission returns, quantification methodologies and verification reports.
  • Communicating with a broad range of internal and external clients and stakeholders.
  • Identifying and implementing strategic and operational efficiencies for the OBPS.
  • Assessing and monitoring program outcomes and long-range trend analysis to inform development of the OBPS policy.

    • Ideal Candidate

    As our ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Knowledge of principles, applications, methodologies and analysis of greenhouse gas emission intensity calculations.
  • Knowledge of operations and processes from emission-intensive trade-exposed (EITE) sectors in Saskatchewan
  • Ability to explain technical and non-technical information, both in writing and verbally, to a variety of stakeholders with varying levels of understanding.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, attention to detail and innovative problem-solving.
  • The ability to effectively manage fiscal and human resources.
  • Project Management Professional Certification designation would be an asset.

    • Candidates must be a practicing professional engineer within this jurisdiction and eligible for membership with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS).

    Typically, the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to be successful in this position would be obtained through:

  • A degree in engineering, supplemented with a background or work experience in measuring, quantifying and reporting greenhouse gas emission intensities.
  • 8+ years of relevant engineering experience in a senior-level role with supervisory responsibilities.
