    REPORTS TO/DIRECT REPORTS TO: First Nations Relations Lead and the First Nations Support Team.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Summer Student participates as a team member for administrative support purposes to the First Nations Relations Department in Fire & Flood Emergency Services Ltd. under the direction of the First Nations Relations Lead. Duties involve providing assistance by conducting day-to-day responsibilities that facilitate the smooth operation of First Nations Relations Department initiatives.

    JOB DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be a student. Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
    • Must hold a valid Social Insurance Number.
    • Provides support in the delivery of services within the prescribed department. Assist the First Nations Relations Lead in setting up a consistent and meaningful program.
    • Performs specific duties identified by the First Nations Relations Lead in an effective, efficient, and timely manner.
    • Monitor and maintain accurate records and submit them to the First Nations Relations Lead on a weekly basis, in a timely manner.
    • All records are to be kept confidential and under locking conditions. Files are to be protected under F.O.I.P. and P.I.P.E.D.A. as files contain highly confidential information.
    • Oversees that all equipment, tasks, and projects performed as assigned are carried out within Occupational Health and Safety Standards and Fire & Flood Emergency Services Ltd. Policies and Procedures.
    • Identify equipment, supplies, and logistics needed to carry out duties and responsibilities.
    • Assist with maintaining consistency in the First Nations Relations Department.
    • Performs other related duties as required or assigned by the First Nations Relations Lead.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum Grade 12 or GED equivalency, and/or one to three (1-3) years' experience, preferably in a First Nations environment including:
    • Demonstrated organizational ability and composure to work within specific timeframes, in a fast-paced climate.
    • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with staff at all levels within the company in a multiple task environment.
    • Good physical health and emotional maturity.
    • Demonstrated interest in First Nations community's work.
    • Solid planning, organizing, and problem-solving skills. Effective team building strength. Commitment to continuous improvement and excellent customer services.
    • Valid Alberta Driver's License.
    • To read, understand, and comply with Fire & Flood Emergency Services Ltd. safety policy, safe work practices, policies, and procedures.
    • Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Outlook) requirements for reporting to the First Nations Relations Executive and submission of electronic documentation.
    • First Nations awareness and cultural training would be considered an asset.
