    The Senior Technical Specialist – Data Platforms role is responsible for the design, development and implementation of the data and analytics products and projects that enable data science efforts in the organization. The Senior Technical Specialist drives data modernization and innovation and contributes to a strong data and analytics competency for ATCO.

    The Senior Technical Specialist leverages their knowledge across a wide range of technologies and emerging trends to identify opportunities to enhance and evolve the technology portfolio and processes.

  • Lead Architecture Design: Spearhead the design and support for the Data Platform, catering to a diverse audience from data engineers to AI & BI users.
  • Technical Standards and Best Practices: Research and recommend technical standards, ensuring the architecture aligns with overall technology and product strategy. Be hands-on in implementing core components reusable across applications.
  • Understand data technology trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business needs.
  • Act as a bridge between technical and business stakeholders during solution development to ensure proposed solution meet immediate and strategic business objectives of external Stakeholders (Business Analyst, Business Users, Technology/Application SMEs)
  • Assisting the Data Projects Delivery team with the technical aspects of planning, quality control, change control and risk management.
  • Assist with the development, documentation, communication, and enforcement of a policy for standardizing technology, configurations, and software as necessary.
  • Engage with vendor, third party, and other industry experts to stay aware of vendor roadmaps, functional capabilities, and lessons learned.
  • Stays current on industry trends, process improvement methodologies, and architecture best practices.
  • Assist with the development, documentation, communication, and enforcement of a policy for standardizing technology, configurations, and software as necessary.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other business consumers to quickly and thoroughly analyze business requirements to populate the data warehouse, optimized for reporting and analytics.
  • Works and communicates effectively with all levels of management.
  • Provide work estimates for cloud and data related activities.
  • Document and present relevant material clearly and concisely to a target audience.
  • Perform root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.

    • Who You Are:

  • College degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Deep knowledge and experience with Oracle Analytics Cloud and Autonomous Data Warehouse
  • Deep knowledge of data modelling (Dimensional vs Relational) and ETL/ELT development processes and tools , Informatica, SAP, Microsoft, ...
  • Experience in database and Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) architectures with Oracle, SQL Server and MySQL databases on multiple operating systems.
  • Experience in developing strategy and architecture for managing the enterprise's data. Managing data governance and data quality best practices.
  • + years of experience in roles such as data architect or any other leadership role focused on data management, with an emphasis on system integration.
  • Experience with data warehouse and data lake design, development, and sustainment.
  • Experience working with Azure cloud components like Azure Data Factory, Azure Stream Analytics, EventHub, Azure Synapse (SQL Data Warehouse), Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) and DataBricks
  • Experience with data archival and data retention across the organization.
  • Experience with data governance and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
