About the Opportunity Tl'etinqox Government is looking fora full-time Community Justice Workerbased inTl'etinqox/Williams Lake, BC.
Reporting to the Director of Community Development, your will be primarily responsible for administering the Tl'etinqox Justice Program and are accountable for supporting and supervising clients diverted from the Provincial Courts to the Indigenous Court process.
You will provide support, guidance, and advocacy to help clients make positive changes in their lives and avoid further involvement in criminal activities.
Working with individuals over 12 charged with low to moderate-level offences referred by the Crown's OfficeDeveloping and promoting community-based criminal prevention programs
Coordinating criminal prevention programs and building holistic rehabilitation relationships
Conducting Rapid Intake, risk, and safety assessments
Facilitating connections to Community-Based Services and maintaining service inventories
Attending Indigenous court proceedings and participating in community and program meetings
Tracking performance indicators and preparing reports for program evaluation
AboutYou To qualify, you must have a certificate or diploma in a social or justice-relatedfield , or equivalent experience and coursework.
Additionally, a minimum of two years' experience in providing support and supervision to high-risk youth and adults in a non-voluntary community-based program is essential.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid BC Driver's LicenseKnowledge of and experience with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, Criminal Code of Canada, corrections Canada, and Indigenous court
Experience working with Indigenous families, children, and youth
Understanding of the social, economic, political, and historical challenges in First Nations and Indigenous communities
experience/background with the RCMP is a strong asset
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
Public speaking/group facilitation experience with youth
