    Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, responsible for the lead strategic representation, subject matter expertise and general administration of the French Market both internally and externally for Lee Valley operations, across all channels.

    Works collaboratively with all business unit leaders to drive French market growth while ensuring that customer and employee touchpoints are to the high standard of French Lee Valley has established in the marketplace.


    The director of francization works enterprise-wide to ensure respect of official language rights in all areas of the business and workplace.

    This is accomplished by ensuring compliance with legislation, regulations, policy as well as offering strategic advice, education, and awareness on cultural requirements.

    Leads, advises, and provides functional direction to the Adaptation and French Marketing resources. Coaches, develops, trains, and manages the performance of the team.

    Will grow the Lee Valley premium brand, and French market share culturally correct
    Stays abreast of trends and issues relating to the French Market including, regulations, policy, or directives - providing strategic recommendations to senior leadership to amend policies, procedures, and processes
    Approves and/or adapts market-specific campaigns to create and maintain high levels of interaction (acquisition and retention)
    Liaise with the Product, Content and Sales to increase representation through cohesive strategies

    Responsible for intake process of translation projects, including prioritization, distribution of assignments, relationship management with internal customers, and coordination with vendors.

    Oversee management of project workflow tool and distribute assignments within the Adaption Team or external resources depending on the expertise required, deadlines, and nature of the request; Oversight of translation projects to ensure on-time delivery.

    Review and approve internal correspondence ensuring consistency and quality of organizational adaptation
    Monitor and maintains the quality of French communication for all channels. Supports our QC stores and category experts by assisting merchandising strategy unique to French markets
    Responsible for French media relations
    Involved in social media strategy to build engagement with social influencers.
    Contribute to the continuous improvement of team processes, and best practices elevating the importance of the language.

    Analyze sales and market trends for the francophone customers to produce recommendations in support of execution and strategic decisions for this market.

    Strong command of the French language and ability to work in a bilingual work environment
    Bachelor's Degree required
    Must have superior French and English language skills
    Proficient in MS Office Suite
    Advance knowledge of translation software an asset

    Knowledge and experience with French culture with ability to identify commonalities and differences in meanings, teachings and marketing activities among the different French communities.

    Experience liaising and/or collaborating with artisan and/or French cultural organizations.
    Experience contributing to the development of policies, procedures, or operational standards in a team setting.

    Experience in analyzing and synthesizing complex information in order to produce diverse documents for senior management** such as briefing notes, memos, reports and correspondence.
