  • Why is this role important?

    The Program Consultant is responsible for leading the enhancement and maintenance of the platform. The Program Consultant leads the Platform Management team - a multi-disciplinary team comprised of ITS, Web, UX, IA/SEO and digital analytics experts - to assess, prioritize, and execute the enhancement and maintenance requests that are submitted for the platform. They play a key role in leading the team to take a collective, high-level view of the strategic and operational work and ensure alignment with business and external user needs.

    What you'll do

    1.Leads and supports activities for the platform management group. Facilitates regular meetings, creates meeting agenda, captures actions items, ensures representation from key areas, and leads communication about group's activities and points of escalation to management.

    2.Responsible for the backlog. Monitors the request backlog in Jira, collects information related to requests, facilitates the prioritization of requests with the platform management group and communicates the status of requests to internal requestors.

    3.Creates and maintains the platform roadmap. Considers current and future needs of the platform, consults appropriate stakeholders across the organization, communicates status to collaborators and management regularly and ensures roadmap aligns with business and external user needs.

    4.Collaborates with internal partners and experts to identify and facilitate the development of strategies and solutions for platform management work that align with CIHI's digital strategy and artificial intelligence strategy. Contributes to the development of standards, processes and tools related to the website.

    5.Regularly meets with internal stakeholders. Works with the representatives to review submissions, to identify requests that should be placed on the backlog, and to understand the scope and impact of the requests.

    6.Plans, prepares, monitors, and maintains backlog and platform project deliverables. This includes defining and documenting scope, release timing, dependencies, risks, contingencies, issue management, etc.

    7.Provides leadership and guidance to staff. Supervises, coaches, coordinates and monitors work, workload, and performance to ensure quality and timeliness. Conducts annual performance management reviews and ensures that learning opportunities are provided.

    8.Supports the Education, Design and Content Delivery branch by leading development and process improvement initiatives. Works with the subject matter experts to inform the requirements of the initiative and is responsible for the facilitation of and documentation for the project.

    9.Contributes to other work, as requested.

    What you'll bring to the table


    • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, User Experience, Business Administration, Engineering, or Software Development. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in health care related information management, website management or product management environment.

    • Experienced with modern Product Management disciplines, practices and standards. Product Management certification is an asset. Experience managing a responsive, accessible website or analytical toolkit-based product.

    • Experience in delivering organizational projects using any combination of the following methodologies: Lean Process, Project Management, Waterfall, Agile Project Management.

    • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and verbal and written communication skills. Facilitation training and/or experience, particularly involving diverse business and technical audiences.

    • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills, along with attention to detail and commitment to quality.

    • Team player with demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.

    • Familiarity with workflow, product management and service management tools (e.g. Jira, ServiceNow).

    • Knowledge of System Development Lifecycle process, including agile, with a focus on product ownership, user story development and decomposition, business analysis and testing, including documenting associated deliverables (including process flow, data models, test documentation and training materials), is an asset.

    • Knowledge of key issues in change management is an asset.

    • Familiarity with user-centred design practices is an asset.

    • Fluency in English is required; bilingualism is an asset.

    • Ability to meet travel requirements.
