- Communicate with clients, prepare quotations, prepare export bookings, arrange pre-carriage, and prepare bills of lading in accordance with the client's or agents request.
- Obtain necessary documentation to ensure no hiccups with the export shipment, file CERS/B13A.
- Respond to client inquiries on all matters in a timely manner relating to the client's activities.
- Communicate with agents to obtain cargo status and to ensure service standards are maintained.
- Prepare and follow up with clients on the status of freight quotes.
- Ensure profit is made, upsell to increase profits, prepare billing within 2 days of sailing, for Air within 1 day of departure, trucking same day of delivery.
- Coordinate delivery and loading of the containers, LCL and or Air Freight with the warehouse.
- Communicate with receiving terminals on the receipt and loading of their cargo.
- Monitor export documentation and FROB vessel/air carrier deadlines.
- Work with carriers on container, air, LCL bookings and cut-offs.
- Communicate with agents on shipments.
- Complete agent's documentation packages relating to cargo mode of transportation.
- Handle rate inquiries from agents and request rates from agents for destination charges when required.
- Work with the other employees in the export department to improve customer satisfaction, cycle times, and increase revenues.
- Maintain high performance standards that will enable the export department to focus on continuous improvement, committed to providing exceptional customer service.
- May require some travel visiting clients, attending conference if required.
- Other job duties as assigned.
- Successful completion of CIFFA Education Program
- 2 years of general forwarding or marine transportation experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
