    The Policy Analyst supports Enserva in its efforts to respond to and influence policy and legislation that affects its members and industry. This position requires a strong analytical and research background to address policy and regulatory issues impacting the energy services sector. The analyst identifies relevant issues, advocates for Enserva member companies, undertakes analysis, and develops consensus positions. Staying updated on policy developments, the analyst recommends strategies to Enserva staff, Board, and member Councils. As a key team member, the Policy Analyst contributes to Enserva's meaningful delivery of its strategy, ensuring effective advocacy and reporting to members.

    Do you have what it takes?

    • Reviews and evaluates legislation, regulation, and policies to determine benefits, drawbacks, and propose suggestions for improvement.
    • Liaises with Enserva members and stakeholders to develop in-depth analysis and associated policy positions.
    • Prepares letters, reports, submissions, briefs, research, and position papers on policy responses.
    • Interfaces with government departments and regulatory agencies to represent Enserva's views.
    • Gathers, classifies, and assesses data, including legislation, regulation, laws, policies, trends, and government and stakeholder reports.
    • Participates in external committees, government tables, and working groups.
    • Provides support to internal workgroups on key projects or initiatives.
    • Performs jurisdictional scans and analyzes market trends and conditions.
    • Maintains and develops relationships with government and other stakeholders.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the President or designate.

    Who are you?

    A key to your success will be your strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with excellent verbal and written communication. You will also bring first-rate organizational and time management skills, as well as good interpersonal and social skills. You will have a demonstrated ability to work independently in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision. In addition, you will also have:

    • Post-secondary education in a relevant field, preferably a degree or diploma in occupational health and safety, political science, government relations, public affairs, public policy, or another relevant discipline.
    • Minimum of 2-5 years of related work experience.
    • Understanding the energy services industry is considered an asset.
    • Knowledge of government policy and regulatory processes is considered an asset.
    • Experience in preparing reports and briefings to present findings.
    • Exceptional team player with a strong ability to contribute positively to a team environment.
    • Overtime may be required during peak periods and when the workload is necessary. The job may require occasional travel (e.g., council meetings or workshops). Travel timing is flexible and planned when possible.
    • Government grant writing experience is considered an asset.
