- Work effectively with the industrial partners to understand their challenges and to address them properly in the research studies.
- Answer queries generated by sponsors, and meet imposed deadlines.
- Work with the principal investigator to ensure the research is conducted effectively.
- Conduct and supervise research on greenhouse gas emissions and the economics of global refineries.
- Develop novel simulation tools and extend life cycle assessment methods.
- Develop a strong knowledge of the assigned research study and its objectives by performing a literature review.
- Participate in and manage research activities, and prepare reports, journal articles, and presentations.
- Train undergraduate and graduate students and provide direction in their research activities.
- Establishes and maintains effective, productive relationships with peers, immediate supervisor, and with campus community.
- Manages own time effectively and ensures the manager is kept informed of activities, and progress of work.
- Participate in training opportunities and conferences as required.
- Ph.D degree in Physical Sciences, Optical Engineering or other related engineering disciplines.
- More than 5 years postdoctoral experience in Quantum materials related projects such as QLEDs, OLEDs or Photodetectors and solution processible device fabrication and optimization.
- Thorough knowledge of Schlenk line and sound experience working on optoelectronic device fabrication and applications.
- Experience with techniques increasing photoluminance quantum yield (PLQY) and PLQY measurements using various spectrometers.
- Demonstrated ability to work with partners from Solid State Lighting (SSL) and the semiconductors industry for industrial stability testing of light-emitting devices.
- Experience in working with novel optoelectronic materials such as In, CdSe, SiQDs, and Perovskites.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization as well as other researchers.
- A positive attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are critical.

The Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering within Schulich School of Engineering invites applications for a Research Associate. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
The incumbent reports to the Principal Investigator (PI) and will pursue a research project in the area of Quantum Materials (Quantum Dots) preparation and its application in Greenhouse and Indoor agriculture to increase crops' yield. The primary role of the research associate is to perform research to improve the Quantum Materials, especially the high quantum yield quantum dots, develop methodologies for the preparation of novel and environmentally friendly compounds, and characterize/asses their applicability in the running research project. The new insights about the economic and environmental performance of emerging energy technologies will better inform decision-makers and investors.
