    Location: Toronto, ON

    Total Compensation: 70-80k

    Iris Scientific is a specialty recruitment agency laser focused on sales, marketing, and technical roles in the North American Scientific Instrumentation Industry.

    We are working with a market leading global microscopy and imaging instrumentation manufacturer to find a Microscopy Service Specialist based out of the Greater Toronto Area. This position is 75% office based, with 25% travel across Canada and the United States.

    Reporting directly to the National Service Manager, this position is responsible for: all microscopy demo equipment service and coordination, in office repairs, service reporting, quality control and logistics for the Microscope Division. Field based assistance of microscopy system installs will also be required

    It is ideally suited to a recent science or engineering graduate (BSc or MSc) looking to jumpstart their industry career, with:

    • hands on experience with microscopy and/or other advanced scientific instruments (spectrometry, flow cytometry, etc)
    • a strong technical aptitude, with a comfort level for troubleshooting and repair of advanced equipment
    • advanced knowledge of computers and software
    • strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with service and sales colleagues, as well as customers
    • a resilient "can do" attitude and a desire to solve complex problems
    • the ability to travel throughout Canada and the US up to 25% of the time
    • Canadian work authorization (visa sponsorships are generally not considered).

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage, coordinate, and maintain microscopy demonstration systems
    • Directly responsible for the quality, condition, allocation and shipping of all the demo systems
    • Work with Service Manager and Service Operations Coordinator to manage and service in house microscope repairs, including demonstration, inventory and customer orders
    • Maintain and help develop web based reporting system for all service and support activities
    • Run weekly and monthly service and demo equipment reports
    • Working with senior service engineers, assist with in-field customer installations and service
    • Packing of demo systems as required.
    • Warehouse maintenance and organization of demo equipment
    • Attend advanced microscopy service, maintenance, and installation training courses

    Qualifications:

    • BSc required (Life / Physical Science or Mechanical / Electrical Engineering preferred)
    • MSc in Science or Engineering Strongly Preferred
    • Hands on experience with research microscopy equipment, or other advanced instruments such as spectrometry, metrology, flow cytometry, etc
    • Strong technical and mechanical aptitude, with electrical optical instrumentation knowledge preferred.
    • Comfort and experience with advanced equipment troubleshooting, repair, and installation
    • Advanced knowledge of computer hardware and software
    • Demonstrated communication and presentation skills
    • Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintain them over time.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 kg
    • Must be fully fluent in English
    • French language skills is an asset
    • Ability to travel overnight up to 25% of the time
    • Requires a valid current drivers license
    • Must be fully authorized to work in the Canada
