- Support research and planning activities of the City Revitalization Branch including land use planning, zoning and development standards review, urban design, and heritage conservation.
- Collects and organizes data related to land use and other planning functions e.g., zoning bylaw.
- Research and compiles information on planning issues e.g., parking standards.
- Maintains computer database files regarding land use information, bylaw amendments, development applications, zoning appeal records, and various planning related data.
- Conducts site visits and collects current and historical information for reports and applications for planning projects.
- Triages incoming messages and requests (in-person, telephone, email) for response and action
- Prepares correspondence and reports.
- Attends meetings, take minutes, and circulates.
- Maintains filing systems in accordance with branch procedure and corporate records management policies and procedures.
- Completes searches, inputs data, validates data, manipulates data, and generates reports and lists from programs and application
- Familiarity with urban planning and urban design concepts including related technical terminology, practices and techniques.
- Knowledge of planning and development principles, policies, procedures, processes, and practices
- Knowledge of customer service
- Knowledge of specific branch as well as the broader division/department/branches
- Knowledge of relevant collective agreements, bylaws, policies and procedures, and legislation, including health and safety standards
- Knowledge of job-related office productivity software, internet browsers and search engines, enterprise software, discipline-specific software, and technology devices
- Provides front-line customer service.
- Explains, clarifies, and exchanges procedural and technical information.
- Identifies issues, consults, and follows policies, procedures, and processes.
- Prioritizes and adapts activities in accordance with daily/weekly/annual schedule within defined timelines/deadlines.
- Provides ideas and suggestions to improve work processes.
- Completion of university degree from a CIP-accredited university planning program or a closely related field
- Registered or eligible for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and registered or eligible for membership in the Saskatchewan Professional Planning Institute (SPPI)
- Class 5 driver's licence
- Up to nine months of previous and on-the-job experience in community planning or GIS
- Works in primarily in indoor office
- Works in outdoor site environment for site visits
