As a Business Strategist in the Partnerships Director's Office, you will support the business unit by providing comprehensive and timely analysis, strategic advice and recommendations to the leadership team and senior management. You will facilitate the delivery of business unit objectives and lead the coordinated planning and execution of a wide variety of initiatives. The primary duties include:
  • Support the business unit's maturation by coordinating strategic planning, developing goals and monitoring initiatives and performance measures.
  • Ensure a coordinated approach to business planning activities across service lines.
  • Provide leadership and project management to business unit initiatives including service governance development, service plan performance reporting, budgeting, service risk management, occupational health and safety program, business continuity planning, communications tactics, and the execution of all-staff events.
  • Provide budget process support; identify gaps, conduct research, and develop recommendations as to the efficiency, effectiveness, and scope of business activities.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of strategic initiatives that significantly advance the objectives of the business unit.
  • Analyze and assess information on emerging issues, trends, opportunities, and implications of possible initiatives; create and evaluate options for consideration by the leadership team.
  • Foster positive relationships across the business unit and within the department.
    • Qualifications
  • A degree in Business, Public Administration, Planning, or a related field and at least 5 years of related experience in policy and program development, project management, and/or operational and strategic planning.
  • An understanding of municipal governance and operational processes with knowledge in a variety of long-range planning activities such as finance, capital asset planning, business planning, management, and policy theory/development.
  • Experience with report writing, finance, and client negotiation will be considered an asset.
  • Well developed research, analytical and problem-solving skills and business and political acumen.
  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrated use of sound judgement, and strong facilitation skills with the ability to influence without authority and build consensus.
