    What you'll do

    The Team Lead Customs Advisor is responsible for ensuring compliance with customs regulations and procedures in international trade transactions. It plays a crucial role in safeguarding the interests of the organization by conducting audits, assessing risk levels, and identifying potential duty recovery opportunities. The Customs Auditor works closely with internal teams, customs officials, and external stakeholders to maintain a high level of accuracy and efficiency in customs-related activities.

  • Primary point of contact for the organization on regulatory and legislative import requirements.
  • Design and development of internal audits to ensure compliance with Customs regulations as well as identifying opportunities for duty reduction.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Customs Department.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide guidance on customs requirements, resolve issues, and optimize processes.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in customs operations to inform project decisions and drive innovation.
  • Liaise with customs officials on requests and audits.
  • Direct and supervise the planning, execution, and evaluation of customs initiatives, while continuously seeking opportunities for improvement.
  • Evaluate the risk associated with various import and export activities and identify potential areas of non-compliance.
  • Stay informed about changes in customs regulations, laws, and procedures to ensure compliance at all times.
  • Champion the implementation of customs compliance principles within the Auditor team, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and standards.
  • Develop and implement training programs for the Customs team.
  • What you bring

  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS) designation.
  • 5-8 years of experience in Customs Compliance.
  • 2-3 years of leadership experience.
  • In-depth knowledge /experience with U.S and Canadian Customs
  • Knowledge / experience with Customs rulings and Customs Self-Assessment (CSA).
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working toward multiple deadlines at the same time.
  • Project management exposure.
  • Ability to manage relationships with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven self-starter with strong initiative.
  • Hybrid
