Indigenous Climate Action (ICA) is looking for someone who is ambitious, personable and passionately committed to true Indigenous Climate Justice to serve as the Executive Manager to the Executive Director and the Associate Director of ICA.
At ICA we inspire action through the development of tools and opportunities created with, by and for our communities, with the goal of uplifting Indigenous voices, sovereignty, and stewardship of the lands and waters for future generations.
The Executive Managerto the Executive Director and the Associate Director, is responsible for providing executive, administrative and governance support to the Executive Director and the Associate Director and the Leadership Team.
In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external inquiries on all matters pertaining to the Executive Director and Associate Director.
This position reports directly to the Executive Director and Associate Director, and the successful candidate will also work in partnership with ICA Directors across the ICA Pods to ensure there is clear communication, scheduling and reporting to support ICA's goals and deliverables.
The Executive Manager should be well-organized, understanding the importance of timing and setting, responding to crises and setbacks, working with a diverse fast-paced team and have great time management skills and be able to act without guidance.
Experience working with Indigenous-led organizations and structures that challenges systems of colonization, white supremacy, patriarchy and capitalism is an asset.
The position is full time and entails a 35 hour work week within a culture of ICA's Four Day work week policy.
When safe, some travel and evening/ weekend hours may be required. The successful candidate must be willing to be flexible and work hours required to meet ICA expectations. A Criminal Record Check along with Child and Adult Abuse Registry checks are required conditions of employment.This is a remote, work from home, online working position with priority given to Indigenous people who live in so-called Canada.
Ensure good strategy for Executive Director and Associate Director for undertaking the leadership needs of the organization.Including but not limited to coordinating processes for strategic planning and building a work plan to support leadership in identifying achievable goals, impacts and strategies for evaluation.
Collaborate on providing confidential administrative support including: meeting scheduling, agenda development, expense reconciliation, and minute takingSupporting research and development needs for ED/AD (Planning for keynotes; Coordinate contractors to support emergent needs for ICA's organizational well-being.
Work with Systems and Logistic Coordinator to ensure travel arrangements, child care and other logistical needs for ED/AD
2-5 year prior administrative assistant and/or executive consulting experience, including support to Executive team members.
~ Post-secondary degree or diploma in community development, administration or relevant experience.
~ Excellent with typing and maintaining digital filing.
~ Excellent Google Suite Tools, including but not limited to managing google docs, google sheets and google calendar.
~ Familiarity or willingness to learn ICA's office software and communication applications (e.g. e-calendars, slack, zoom, and monday.
Clear understanding of the intersections of Indigenous rights and colonial policy
Knowledge of federal/provincial/territorial organizational climate and Indigenous rights policies and issues.
Comfortable with building new relationships and navigating the diversity of opinions and tensions that can exist in a community.
Excellent analytical skills to research and provide an accurate and thorough analysis including recommendations.Comfortable with asking questions, pushing for clarity and asserting best-practices for time management.
Ability to travel and be available outside of core office hours when required.
