    Nutrition Lab Coordinator - Saskatoon, SK, Canada - University of Saskatchewan

    Primary Purpose: This position will provide laboratory/tutorial support to the Fall 2024 offerings of NUTR 425 (Nutritional Assessment) and NUTR 441 (Clinical Nutrition I) and Winter offering of NUTR 442 (Clinical Nutrition II) through oversight, coordination, and delivery of practical components of the courses and other student training requirements.

    Nature of Work: Reporting jointly to the Assistant Dean of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Instructors of these courses.

    Typical Duties or Accountabilities:

    • Regularly liaise with course instructors for NUTR 425, NUTR 441, and NUTR 442.
    • Update, coordinate, and deliver labs/tutorials for NUTR 425 (Term 1, 2.5-hour tutorial per week on Thursdays 1:00-3:30 pm), NUTR 441 (Term 1, 3-hour lab per week on Mondays 1:30-4:20 pm), and NUTR 442 (Term 2, 3-hour lab per week on Mondays 1:30-4:20 pm). Attendance at labs is mandatory.
    • Grade class/laboratory/tutorial assessments as required.
    • Help with organizing and delivering Interprofessional Education labs/activities for NUTR 425/441/442 labs/tutorials (Wednesday afternoon).
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications
    Education: Minimum of a bachelor`s degree in nutrition.

    Licensure: Must be a registered dietitian, registered with or be willing to register with the Saskatchewan Dietitians Association.

    Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in and demonstrated understanding of dietetics practice in various settings, particularly as it relates to nutritional assessment and clinical nutrition (chronic diseases). Experience teaching and supervising dietetic practicum students will be an asset.

    Skills:

    • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in nutritional assessment and assessment techniques.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in clinical nutrition related to chronic diseases and chronic disease management.
    • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary dietetics practice and education, including dietetics competencies, accreditation standards, code of ethics, scope of practice, professional standards, professionalism, and provincial regulatory bodies.
    • A strong desire to contribute to dietetics education and assist and advise undergraduate nutrition students.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication, and documentation skills.
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
    • Effective time management and organizational skills, including prioritizing responsibilities.
    • Demonstrates initiative and promotes creativity.
