    Coordinator, Learner Initiatives (Indigenous Learners in Accounting)

    The CPA Western School of Business (CPAWSB) provides an innovative, competency-based learning program to more than 15,000 learners in Western and Northern Canada who are completing their formal education towards certification as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) in Canada. CPAWSB delivers the CPA Preparatory Courses and the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) through a combination of online distance learning and face-to-face modules which prepare candidates for the national Common Final Examination (CFE). The School is dedicated to providing excellent service in meeting learners' education and support needs and to working effectively with everyone.

    We currently have an opportunity for a full-time, permanent, Coordinator of Learner Initiatives, Indigenous Learners in Accounting (ILA). This role is eligible for hybrid work, with preference given to candidates located in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba.

    The Coordinator, Learner Initiatives is responsible for focusing on the Indigenous Learners in Accounting (ILA) initiative and for providing support in all aspects of the logistical planning, coordinating and delivery of the education initiatives tailored to the needs and aspirations of Indigenous learners, specifically catering to the Introductory Financial Accounting (IFA) and Core 1 (CO1) courses for both PREP and PEP. This position ensures Indigenous students and candidates receive professional service, individualized attention, and timely responses during the planning and delivery of the education initiative workshops/learning sessions while maintaining cultural sensitivity and respect for Indigenous traditions. This role will also provide support for the admissions advising team to engage with prospective Indigenous learners.

    Principle Duties & Responsibilities

    Include but are not limited to:

    • Coordinating all processes and procedures associated with the planning, preparation, and delivery of the workshops/learning sessions or events.
    • Providing support to all course levels as needed to ensure logistical requirements of the initiative are met.
    • Maintaining effective communication with the learners and provide one-on-one support to identify specific needs for scheduled workshops/learning sessions or events, being mindful of cultural sensitivity and respect for Indigenous traditions.
    • Maintaining continuous engagement with learners throughout their educational journey.
    • Assisting the Admissions Advising team and communicating with prospective Indigenous learners to provide advice and a better understanding of the initiative from the first interaction.
    • Preparing learner expenses for approval.
    • Coordinating air travel and accommodation
    • Coordinating learning venues and facilities as well as locations required for special events.
    • Coordinating the distribution of learning materials required for the workshops/learning sessions.
    • Arranging the distribution and return of inventory.
    • Maintaining expected attendance lists and communicating any changes to the impacted parties.
    • Managing the queue and ensuring emails are responded to in a timely manner or brought to the attention of the relevant respondent.
    • Being available for and responsive to emerging needs that arise during scheduled workshops/learning sessions or events.
    • Assisting with and/or preparing required reports or presentations.
    • Reporting learner feedback to ensure program success and continuous improvement.
    • Performing other program-related duties as assigned.
    • Ensuring compliance with School privacy policies and applicable privacy legislation when carrying out all job duties and functions and obligation to report known or suspected breaches of privacy.

    The Ideal Candidate will bring the following knowledge and experience:

    • Post secondary education in a related field; along with 3 years experience in an office environment. Equivalencies will be considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year experience or 1 year experience for 1 year education.
    • Preference will be given to Indigenous applicants, defined under Section 35(2) of the Constitution Act, 1982 which defines Aboriginal peoples as Indian, First Nations, Inuit and Métis.
    • Knowledge of and interest in Indigenous culture, history, and traditions, with a commitment to promoting Indigenous perspective in education.
    • Strong computer skills, including MS Office suite.
    • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or an equivalent CRM database is an asset.
    • Experience working with students is considered an asset.

    Preferred qualifications also include:

    • Knowledge of and lived experience working with Indigenous Peoples.
    • Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous learners and communities.
    • A background that demonstrates an appreciation for Indigenous practices, protocols and ways of knowing.

    In addition, the successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:

    • Maintaining confidentiality while receiving and processing learner information.
    • Communicating in a way that is accurate, timely, easy to understand, and considerate of the audience in all speaking and writing instances.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision or direction and successive increases in independent decision making.
    • Effectively organizes logistical needs for the learners.
    • Operating with a high level of attention to detail in all aspects of logistical planning and delivery.
    • Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing workloads and needs quickly and efficiently.
    • Taking immediate action to resolve any logistical issues leading up to or on the day of workshops/learner sessions and events.
    • Taking personal responsibility for outcomes of actions within sphere of accountability.
    • Managing both learner and venue/facility inquiries, requests, and complaints and ensure follow through is provided appropriately.
    • Providing an excellent quality of service, while remaining professional and courteous.
    • Respecting others and their contributions to the team and openly sharing information and expertise to help the team be successful.
    • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.

    In addition, the salary range for this role is a minimum of $52,600 to a maximum of $78,900 per year along with a comprehensive benefits package, CPAWSB can offer an exciting and challenging work environment, as well as a company culture that values, Excellence, Integrity, Collaboration, Innovation, Responsiveness, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.

    This role is based in one of the CPAWSB's Western Provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan or Manitoba and offers the successful candidate the ability to work remotely. Some travel may be required for this position. This role will require flexible scheduling to accommodate potential weekends and evenings, depending on the schedule of workshops/learning sessions and events.
