    Equipment Operator - Evening/Night Shifts

    Port Kells, BC Full-time $25.50/hour

    EquipmentOperator

    Equipment Operators arecross trained to safely operate multiple pieces of all equipment at therecycling and waste centers. Equipment Operators are required to operate allnecessary equipment as directed by Supervisors including front wheel loaders,excavators, track dozers, compactors, and forklifts. These duties areperformed on a daily basis in a noisy environment in all types of weatherconditions. The transfer stations are open 365 days per year. Applicants mustbe able to work shifts which may include day, afternoon, night, and/or weekendshifts.

    Schedule: Night shift 5:00pm to 1:30am.

    Whatwill you do?

  • Successfully operate equipment to move and load solid wasteand recyclable materials into equipment and containers for transportation;
  • Check and ensure that equipment is serviced and in goodworking condition;
  • Perform daily safety inspections and observe proper safetypractices and regulations when operating or working around equipment;
  • Screen solid waste materials received at the transferstation and remove unauthorized materials in accordance with the site'soperational procedures;
  • Assist with directing traffic and guiding customer vehiclesinto position for proper unloading of waste;
  • Assist with manual work related to transfer stationoperations, including cleaning waste loading, and unloading areas in accordancewith site's operational procedures;
  • Ensure equipment is in a clean and tidy condition at end ofthe shift;
  • Recordkeeping as required (inspections, pre/post-tripmaintenance activities, etc.);
  • Answer questions and assist customers and the generalpublic, as needed;
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

    • Whatwill you bring?

  • Grade 12 or GED equivalency a benefit.
  • Current valid Class 5 BC Driver's license is a mandatoryrequirement;
  • Previous experience operating wheel loaders, trackexcavators, track dozers, compactors and forklifts are a requirement;
  • Previous experience working in a transfer station isconsidered an asset.
  • OFA and WHMIS knowledge is preferred.
  • Equipment certification and TDG certification is preferred.
