    Nurse Practitioner, Cardiac Services

    BC Children's Hospital

    Working with the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Team, Pediatric Cardiologists, and Interprofessional Cardiac Services Care Team, the Nurse Practitioner initiates treatment for cardiac patients, including health care management, interventions, and medication prescriptions. Nurse Practitioners provide professional guidance to health professionals in pediatric cardiac care and families, participating autonomously in interdisciplinary teams and making specialist referrals as necessary. They collaborate with clients and health professionals to identify trends, implement health improvement strategies, and participate in health service policy-making.

    What you'll do

    • Diagnose and treat clients for diseases and conditions within the NP's scope
    • Order diagnostic investigations, interpret reports, and develop treatment plans
    • Write treatment orders and prescriptions, monitor care, and provide emergency care
    • Establish health condition management priorities, communicate with clients about health, and collaborate with other health providers
    • Prescribe drugs based on standards and procedures, utilizing pharmacology knowledge for treatment

    What you bring

    Qualifications

    • Current registration as a NP with BCCNM
    • Eligibility for OSCE completion through BCCNM
    • 4+ years of recent clinical nursing experience
    • Ability to perform full NP duties

    Skills and Knowledge

    • Define practice areas and client population
    • Interact effectively in complex situations, communicate with patients and families, and collaborate with health professionals
