THE ELECTION NOBODY WANTS

The Canadian government has just called a snap election, and I can understand why. They know that the Conservatives don't really have their shit together, and the NDP is not as popular as it needs to be to win a majority. The general consensus among Canadians is that this is just more government spending to basically produce the same result. My opinion is that maybe there will be fewer Conservatives elected and the party will actually stop listening to maniacs like Stephen Harper and re-tool itself. All things considered Canada is not as political as the US. Our parties work better closer to the centre, where there's (some) compromise and cooperation. Right now with the Covid and economic situations being what they are, I don't think many Canadians would really want to rock the boat. Trudeau is not the greatest leader this country has ever had, but he beats the hell out of the Conservatives who would want to run things like the Republicans would in the US, which is to say, right into the ground. You can disagree if you like. Or you can be like my pal Herb Bond and write it all off as a huge shitshow. But it's happening and here we go again.

A Sure Sign Of Spring

Jim Murray · Went outside this morning to do my walking and noticed that this was on my mailbox. These birds must have worked all night on this. Hope they got paid overtime. We think they're Robins. I carefully moved the nest to another location.

Everybody Complains About The Weather. Who Am I To Blow Against The Wind?

The Whole World is Watching

I love living in Canada and being a Canadian. In typical Canadian fashion, I’m not a flag waver nor engage in what often seems at times adolescent patriotism south of the border. But I have to share a secret, not only mine but that of my fellow 35 million Canadians: we can’t seem ...
