THE NEW BAD GUYS
Over the last while, I have been seeing a lot of posts direct with a certain amount of vehemence and resentment towards Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk and Richard Branson. A lot of it has to do with the idea that these three guys are working toward getting people into space, and that ,with all the problems we have here on earth, maybe they should be directing their efforts to that instead. It is to these people, I ask politely, "Who the hell are you to be telling these guys what do do?" These guys are all rich because they are smart, and you can bet your fur that they worked hard to get that way. All this criticism seems to me to be something akin to petty jealousy. These guys are all capitalists and as such are taking full advantage of all that capitalism has to offer. If anything you should be hounding the government to tax these guys so they are forced to pay their fair share. But you can't criticize them or their motives for doing what they do. You'd probably do the same thing if you were them.

I would def not do the same thing if I was them

Yes science & experimentation & exploration are vital for the world's survival

BUT

the world's survival is NOW

not on a planet where you can't breathe

‘Space philanthropy’ ?

Jeff Bezos boasts that US$1 billion a year on his space program is a good way to spend his Amazon gains

He thanks his workers that he underpays

I realise they  give more than I will earn in a lifetime to charity

but to me they are 3 boys competing with their new toys to see who will win

(Besides they are rich enough that they can do both)

Good point. If you want to criticize them at least reach their level of accomplishment first. Cheers
