beBee vs The Lumpy Kingdom…For Dedicated Bloggers It’s No Contest
When I was a young wharthog, I was a smoker. But my wife was asthmatic and so, putting love over lung cancer, and or other related diseases, I quit.
This was not all that hard for me because I always found it a rather disgusting habit. But it was an addiction and so occasionally I would bum a cigarette from someone at work, go outside where there was less chance of the smoke getting into my clothes and just test my belief that quitting was the right thing to do.
It only took a couple of these episodes to realize realize that once I had quit I was simply no longer a smoker and that was that.
The Lumpy Kingdom TestLike many bloggers on LinkedIn Pulse who were not among the anointed (read featured and promoted) Influencers, I had a pretty good run until they started tweaking their algorithm and my numbers fell to a level that could only be classed as ‘pathetic’.
Which is how (thanks to the persuasiveness of John White, MBA) I ended up here on beBee, entertaining, informing and occasionally pissing off a whole new audience.
In the spirit of curiosity, a couple days ago, I reconstructed one of my recent posts on LI Pulse. Since I already had my stats from the beBee posting I thought that this would make a good experiment.
I deliberately chose a post that generated more or less what I would consider to be my average numbers on beBee. The post was a bit instructional in terms of an important aspect of communication, so I was pretty sure it wouldn’t piss anybody off.
The Proof Is In The PuddingHere are the page grabs of my beBee publisher post and that same post configured for LI Pulse.
As you can clearly see, nothing has really changed over in the Lumpy Kingdom since I wrote my last Pulse post nearly a year ago now.
But what has changed overall is that my beBee numbers in terms of views, shares and engagement are anywhere from triple to well, astronomical (every so often), compared to LI Pulse.
Javier Said it AllYesterday, Javier Rica (one of beBee’s owners) published a very informative post on organic reach which is really what most bloggers rely on to build their audience.
https://www.bebee.com/producer/@javierbebee/organic-reach-on-social-media-is-declining
If you’re still publishing on LI Pulse, you have my sympathy because your blogging is probably hardly worth doing there. And why anyone in that situation is not using beBee as their blogging base is beyond me.
But then I’m mystified by a lot of things these days.
Do Yourself A FavourCheck out Javier’s article on organic reach. And several of the other pieces he has written on the advantages of beBee vs other social media sites. If you’re serious about building your audience on social media, blogging on beBee should really be job #1.
You don’t have to leave LinkedIn. In fact you can share you posts from beBee to LinkedIn and Facebook and Twitter and Google + from beBee’s publisher. You can also direct your posts into any of beBee's special interest hives so you can effectively reach people who would be interested in reading your post and following you.
The Longer You Wait The Crappier Life Will Be For YouI have no vested interest in telling you all this other than my desire to see more good writing on beBee.
And to do that I want beBee to grow and populate its hives with professionals who believe that building their personal brand is one of the keys to ultimately building their business.
There are a lot of writers here on beBee who are living proof that the organic reach advantages that beBee offers really work.
Making it work for you is eminently doable. All you have to do is do it.
If your business has reached the point where talking to an experienced communication professional would be the preferred option to banging your head against the wall or whatever, lets talk.

Thank you, , for the kind words about the marketing meme. I genuinely appreciate them. However, I need to point out that the meme makes a single, albeit core point about the common mix of concerns about digital self-publishing. And I am not at all certain that beBee beats LinkedIn on all fronts as you say and want to conclude. I've been working for several months on a series of articles about 1) view counts, 2) comparative engagement, 3) the importance of the demographic profile of the user base in the light of one's objectives in authoring and publishing, and 5) different strategies for maximizing the result results of dual- or multi-platform blogging efforts. The series will detail my research and experience and, as such, will be IMO. But I can guarantee that, however it comes down, it will not be simply me telling readers how I want it to be, but rather how I think it is. And never to worry, I'm sure there will be piles of interesting conversation to accompany it. Interested readers can watch for the series to appear, which should be sometime in April. Of if someone prefers to receive direct notice of the articles, he or she can follow and message me to receive such notices for sure. My best to all. And cheers!

Thanks Don \ud83d\udc1d Kerr. I'm allergic to listicle titles. They make me gag and spew chunks. But all kidding aside, I think a lot of people are just plain not reading this stuff over there.
