    Description

    Director - Cards Consultant

    Apex Systems is a global IT services provider and our consulting practice has an opening for a Cards Consultant who will be responsible for leading the strategic direction and execution of our card payments modernization program for a Top Five Bank.

    Client: Big 5 Bank

    Location: Hybrid; 1- 2 days a week in Toronto

    Terms: 6 Month Contract to Hire,

    Hours: 40 hours/week Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

    Summary:

    We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cards Consultant for our card payments modernization initiative. This role requires a deep understanding of the credit card ecosystem, including processing networks (TSYS), peripherals, transaction flows, and associated elements like payment disputes, compliance, and decisioning.

    • Responsibilities:Lead the strategic direction and execution of our card payments modernization program.
    • Conduct a comprehensive evaluation of current legacy systems and identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Analyze alternative solutions for card processing.
    • Develop a future-proofed roadmap towards a more streamlined and business-friendly tool.
    • Drive the transition from legacy technology towards a developer- and architect-friendly environment.
    • Champion collaboration across various stakeholders, including business units, technology teams, and external partners.
    • Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations throughout the modernization process.
    • Develop and present compelling business cases to secure executive buy-in for the modernization initiative.
    • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
    • Qualifications:10+ years of experience in the payments processing industry, with a specific focus on credit cards.
    • Proven track record of leading large-scale technology transformations.
    • In-depth knowledge of card processing networks (TSYS), peripherals, and transaction flows.
    • Strong understanding of payment disputes, compliance, and decisioning processes in the credit card industry.
    • Experience with legacy systems migration and modernization strategies.
    • Familiarity with modern developer and architect tools and practices.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
    • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
