    Contract: Temporary, Full-Time (1.0FTE), 1 Year

    Salary Range: $54,113 to $71,208

    Summary of Responsibilities:

    The Institute for Mental Health Research (IMHR) at The Royal Ottawa Hospital is currently seeking a Research Coordinator for a full-time, contract (1 year) position with the Clinical Brain Research Centre. The Research Coordinator will support the development of a fledgling Interventional Psychiatry Program at The Royal. This program will bring together specialized methodologies, procedures, and staff from both research and clinical backgrounds to treat mental illness.

    The Research Coordinator will facilitate the development and implementation of an Interventional Psychiatry Program at The Royal/IMHR under the general direction of the Interventional Psychiatry leadership team. The Research Coordinator will manage day-to-day operations of Interventional Psychiatry program development.

    Major Responsibilities:

  • Project Coordination (95%)Handles administrative tasks for the Interventional Psychiatry Program (IPP) leadership team to keep the project running smoothlyManages deadlines and workflow related to IPP implementation and operationsSupports the Interventional Psychiatry Steering Committee and Working Groups; schedules meetings, prepares agendas and minutes, follows-up on action itemsSupports the Interventional Psychiatry Fellowship Program as the administrative point of contact for residents and fellows; supports onboarding of new trainees, coordinates rotation schedules, liaises with University of Ottawa Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) Develops an IPP website and/or website contentWrites and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on consultation with IP teamWorks with the IP and IT teams on the inclusion of IP services in the hospital Electronic Health Records (EHR) system Facilitates the submission of institutional level funding proposals (. grants, RFPs) including drafting and editing documents, collation of supporting documents, adherence to deadlinesConducts program evaluation within the IPPPlans and/or coordinates eventsProcurementLiaises with departments across The Royal and the IMHR to address the needs of the IPP
  • Other (5%)Assists the IP team in developing budgets and budget justificationsAdditional job-related duties as assigned
  • Qualifications

  • Graduate degree [MSc or PhD] in a relevant discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience in a clinical or clinical research environment is preferred OR
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience in a clinical or clinical research environment
  • Bilingual (French and English) is an asset
  • Project management experience is an asset
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to communicate and interact competently and professionally at all levels within a broad, complex clinical or clinical research environment.
  • Knowledge of research principles, methodology, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical and research terminology.
  • Ability to develop and implement standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to conduct internet and literature database searches.
  • Ability to establish data collection and management guidelines.
  • Ability to stay highly organized and balance multiple tasks
  • Self-directed and able to work independently with minimal supervision and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Meticulous, detail-oriented, and highly organized.
  • Skilled in budget preparation and fiscal management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
