    As the County of Wetaskiwin continues its commitment to revitalize and enhance its economic landscape and mission for sustainable growth, we are currently recruiting for a dynamic and visionary individual to lead us as the Director of Economic Development.

    Located along the bustling Highway 2 corridor, the County of Wetaskiwin offers an ideal setting for the development of renewable energy initiatives and value-added agriculture projects.

    Amidst its stunning natural beauty, including picturesque lakes and diverse landscapes, the County of Wetaskiwin also holds immense tourism potential, offering visitors and residents unforgettable experiences making it the ideal location to live, work and play.

    The Director of Economic Development leads initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable economic growth in the County of Wetaskiwin.

    Reporting to the County's Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) while also supervising an Economic Development Team, this position entails strategic planning and fostering partnerships across various sectors such as industrial, commercial, retail, and tourism.

    This presents a unique opportunity to leave a lasting impact and contribute to the prosperity and enhancement of community economic development in the County of Wetaskiwin.

    The County is unique and has a registered non-profit organization known as Joint Economic Development Initiatives (JEDI) with a focus to encompass business support, investment attraction, workforce development, and market analysis, all aimed at driving sustainable economic growth and prosperity in the County of Wetaskiwin.

    Provide leadership for economic development initiatives and act as the primary contact for local businesses and companies looking to invest or expand in the County of Wetaskiwin.

    Cultivate relationships with businesses, investors, and industry leaders to attract new opportunities and investment to the County.
    Provide leadership and guidance to the economic development team, ensuring alignment with the objectives of the organization.
    Collaborate with local businesses, entrepreneurs, government agencies, educational institutions, and other stakeholders to support workforce development initiatives.

    Oversee marketing and promotional activities to showcase the County of Wetaskiwin as a premier destination for investment and business development.

    Supervise staff, including hiring, performance appraisals, orientation, training, and disciplinary action.
    Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Community Economic Development, Public Administration, or an equivalent field of study.

    Minimum of five (5) years recent and relevant experience within the field of community economic development with a proven track record of success and results.

    D or CEcD) or related education is an asset.
    Proven track record of successful project management and stakeholder engagement.
    Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret economic data and market trends.
