    49th Parallel Roasters is Canada's pioneer in specialty coffee and we are looking for a Director of Finance to join our team.

    About the Role: As a member of the Senior Leadership team, the Director of Finance will act as a strategic partner and will play an integral role driving the continued growth of the business. To be successful in this role, you will have an excellent working knowledge of accounting and financial reporting as well as operating performance measurement. The ideal candidate will be an energetic, engaging and focus driven leader who contributes to our strategy and excels at collaboration, communication and team engagement.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manage, coach and develop a high performing Finance team that continuously partners with other cross functional teams.
    • Lead the preparation of the monthly financial package and present to the Board alongside President.
    • Ensure the accuracy, timing, and integrity of financial reporting results including oversight of full cycle accounting for all entities and preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports.
    • Continually fine tune reports to ensure maximum support for decision making at the operational level.
    • Responsible for developing the systems, policies and controls necessary to ensure the effective financial management of the business and the accuracy and quality of information.
    • Engage with the Senior Leadership team to develop, update and align key performance metrics that will guide the business in achieving its growth and profitability objectives.
    • Lead the annual planning process in collaboration with the Senior Leadership team and other key stakeholders.
    • Manage relationship with external accountants to facilitate the annual audit process.
    • Manage cash flow to optimize working capital and evaluate/forecast USD needs; execute forward contracts as required.
    • Identify risks to the organization and put plans in place to mitigate risks (insurance, trademark management, internal policies)

    PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to build, mentor, and motivate a high-performing team.
    • Strong understanding of financial regulations, accounting principles, reporting standards, and consolidated financial reporting in compliance with ASPE.
    • Experience working with multiple entities, intercompany transactions and foreign currencies.
    • Experience with cash flow forecasting and analyzing financial data.
    • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
    • Sense of initiative, independence and high ownership.
    • Attention to detail and presentation of information.
    • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency with ERP systems is required.

    Education

    • Undergraduate degree in finance or business administration or its equivalent.
    • CPA designation.

    Experience

    • Five (5) years of industry experience.
    • Five (5) years experience managing a team.
    • Experience in Consumer Food and Beverage would be a strong asset.

    Compensation will be based on experience and the current market rate for the region. The base salary range for this position is $130,000 - $155,000, and includes bonus eligibility. We offer a competitive benefit package as well.
