- between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
- a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and;

- Create slide decks, one pagers and other educational materials to be used for community development capacity building for residents and other agencies
- Support in the development and marketing of the Hello Neighbour community app
- Support and coordinate community events, as needed
- Support, coordinate and co-facilitate group meetings and workshops, as needed
- Contribute to community members' capacity building and leadership development
- Contribute to the increased collaboration of stakeholders - residents, grassroots groups, local organizations - in diverse projects
- Promote CD and SDP via community partners, community members, social media etc. as needed
- Provide administrative support to Community Development Team and community groups supported by the CD Team as required
- Strong desire and commitment to work with community members/community-led groups to strengthen their community by designing and implementing their own solutions for change
- Ability to work cross-culturally, in a manner that respects and promotes diversity
- Ability to bring people together for a common purpose and to help facilitate challenging conversations
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Organized, self-motivated and a creative problem-solver
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Non-authoritative voice of encouragement and ability to recognize and build on community members' existing skills and assets
- Knowledge of social media platforms and social enterprise is an asset (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
- Experience working with equity-seeking groups, familiarity and empathy for the complex challenges faced by equity-seeking groups is an asset
- Knowledge of community initiatives, grassroots groups and events in Regent Park is an asset
- A police check will be required
- Demonstrated respect to YSM's principles of faith, mission and values
- Strong media, tech and design skills (ie. video editing, Google Suite, etc) required
- Interest in evaluations, developing metrics and measuring the impact of community work
- Marketing experience is not required but an asset

Our Community Development (CD) team is seeking a full-time temporary Community Development Worker (8 weeks). The Community Development Worker will support social and community development, primarily with adults, living in the Regent Park area. The CDW will be responsible for supporting the CD team in our communications and work with the Regent Park community. Specific responsibilities include supporting specific task groups with their work (ie: the Community Building working group), agency networking for the local community app and developing education materials for resident capacity building.
