    The Corporate Services and Policy Division of the Ministry of Environment is seeking a full-time permanent results-oriented visionary individual to provide leadership and direction for the delivery of a diverse range of financial, administrative and management services within the ministry as the Executive Director, Financial and Property Management.

    As part of the Senior Management team reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, this position provides:

  • Leadership and management oversight for business continuity, risk and accommodations planning; asset management; procurement; revenue processing, Crown land registry administration and workplace health and safety; and
  • Advice and guidance with regards to developing and implementing business solutions that enable sound decisions and make certain that supports, services and operations are optimally managed.

    • Ideal Candidate

    The ideal candidate will be a demonstrated leader who aligns personal vision and values with corporate goals and objectives and listens and influences others to generate enthusiasm and commitment to the organization's direction. The ideal candidate will possess proven leadership abilities combined with a sound knowledge of financial management practices, public policy and government operations, including budgetary and legislative processes. The ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and working relationships with stakeholders is essential.

    The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership styles that focus on inclusion, excellence, accountability and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, managing staff in multiple locations, and have a proven track record in driving corporate and strategic initiatives, be recognized as innovative, a change agent and a true influencer to achieve success at the team, ministry and government level.

    The ideal candidate will have knowledge of:

  • Financial management and accounting principles and practices;
  • Government budgetary and financial processes;
  • Governance and accountability principles; and
  • Proven experience managing human and financial resources is essential.

    • Typically, the knowledge and experience required to be a successful candidate in this position is obtained through:

  • Broad knowledge and understanding of executive government including governance, stakeholders, partners and applicable legislation;
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of business planning, accountability processes and risk management;
  • Superior analytical and execution skills, combines with clear proficiency in evaluating issues, offering alternatives and creating solutions;
  • Ability to break down structure and functional barriers; encourage sharing of resources and knowledge throughout the organization to solve complex issues;
  • Ability to build commitment through collaboration, consultation and consideration of citizen and stakeholder impact and seeks out opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement;
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with, and influence, a variety of stakeholders; and
  • The knowledge and abilities required for this position would typically be acquired through a business degree and/or accounting or project management designation. A Chartered Professional Accountant designation is preferred .
