    Your role

    The programming unit (arts, weather, radio and investigative) at the Ottawa-Gatineau regional station is looking for a digital producer.

    Curious, creative and innovative, you will be a cornerstone of our digital strategy focused on using video and audio to connect and engage with audiences.

    Your core responsibility will be to oversee the digital content produced by the arts team, including content originating from radio shows. You will bring bold solutions for delivering meaningful digital content to our audiences (text, digital video and audio) in line with current media consumption patterns.

    You are flexible, adaptable and a strong team player. You are able to work collaboratively in a newsroom as well as with the arts team's assignment editor and other program producers.

    Together, you will set, plan and organize digital coverage priorities. You will also help our production teams take their digital skills to the next level.

    You demonstrate and promote the values of an inclusive and respectful work culture. You know the people, communities and culture of the National Capital region, the Outaouais and Eastern Ontario.

    Work is governed by CBC/Radio-Canada's journalistic and programming policies, practices and standards.

    This is a permanent, full-time position. Some overtime may be required, and the schedule is subject to change based on operational requirements.

    Key tasks:
    • Identify priority topics for digital coverage and organize the team's work so as to ensure its production.
    • Determine the style, angle, lineup and format of online content.
    • Pitch, supervise, produce and deploy digital video projects.
    • Package, as needed, digital stories with the best photos, titles and leads, plus links and other multimedia.
    • Conduct interviews as needed to enrich web production; write copy and edit clips for radio.
    • Have sound knowledge of the various digital formats and best practices.
    • Pitch and produce original story ideas for both digital and current affairs programming.
    • Copy-edit digital content and provide feedback to colleagues.
    • Lead the rollout of digital content produced by teams.
    • Populate Radio-Canada's digital platforms (Info app, OHdio, etc.) with content produced by local teams.
    • Supervise the promotion of programming content from other platforms.
    • Conceive and develop program ideas and concepts, and participate in the preparation of program objectives.
    • Prepare coverage plans and rollouts.
    • Evaluate all facets of a production, including the performance of personnel.
    What you bring:
    • University degree or equivalent
    • Five (5) years' experience, including three (3) in broadcasting or a related field, directly relevant to the assignment
    • In-depth knowledge of digital and social media; ability and willingness to innovate and explore new ways of doing things
    • Strong digital writing and storytelling skills and superior editing and vetting skills
    • Relevant experience in content production
    • Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada's mandate and Journalistic Standards and Practices
    • Strong familiarity with the issues important to the Ottawa-Gatineau region
    • Interest in and knowledge of social and cultural events/issues important to the Outaouais and Eastern Ontario
    • A commitment to reflecting community and diversity
    • Ability to work in a high-pressure, tight-deadline environment
    • Proven leadership and strong interpersonal and team-playing skills
    • Initiative and resourcefulness
    • Organizational skills
    • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure
    • Superior editorial judgment
    • Solid command of spoken and written French
    • Knowledge of production applications in use at CBC/Radio-Canada (Scoop, iNews, Dalet, MediaCentral, Adobe Premiere) an asset.
    • Intermediate knowledge of written, spoken and reading in English (BBB)
